This paper presents a 3D finite element model simulation using ABAQUS finite element software to investigate the behavior of steel battened beam columns under uniaxial loads. The columns consist of double-channel cold-formed slender open sections. The study highlighted the effects of various factors on the ultimate capacity of these beam-column members.

By considering both global and local imperfections, the model focuses on the structural strength and performance of battened cold-formed steel columns made from built-up sections. Built-up open cold-formed sections are commonly used in entrances, structural corners, and window frames. These elements exhibit low torsional stiffness and are highly susceptible to cross-sectional deformation. Battened built-up cold-formed steel (CFS) open columns offer enhanced load-carrying capacity when individual profiles cannot withstand applied loads.

Extensive research has focused on understanding the buckling behavior of these structural elements. However, limited studies have explored the impact of spacing between cold-formed C-channel sections. Existing research suggests that battened columns with adequately spaced members exhibit superior structural performance compared to those with closely spaced channels.

Contaminants can reach the excavation site and lead to groundwater contamination. The present research investigates the effect of using sheet piles for controlling the migration of contaminants to excavation sites that require high-quality groundwater, taking into consideration changing concentrations of contaminants and changing soil surface depth downstream of the sheet piles. This paper investigates numerically how the castellated steel beams are affected by the addition of hexagonal stiffeners around hexagonal web openings. Increasing the CSBs' load-bearing capacity and improving their overall structural behavior are the main objectives of this strengthening technique. A recent advancement in building construction is geopolymer concrete (GP), which uses pozzolanic materials like fly ash in place of cement and is activated by an alkaline solution. This study evaluates the impact of various parameters on the compressive strength of geopolymer concrete (GP) by analyzing experimental results from nine GP mixtures. In this study, the effects of two different fibers—steel and polypropylene—were used to calculate the impact of additional fibers on geopolymer concrete following exposure to temperatures of 200 , 400 , and 600° C.

A numerical investigation was conducted to analyze the flow characteristics and heat transfer performance of a circular microchannel. using water and SiO₂+pure water nanofluids with volume fractions of 0.3%, 0.7%, and 1%. The microchannel was subjected to a constant heat flux of 100W, and the pressure drop, friction factor, and thermal resistance were evaluated for different Reynolds numbers ranging from 250 to 850. The results show that the addition of SiO₂ nanoparticles enhances the thermal performance of the microchannel by reducing the thermal resistance by up to 1.9% compared to pure water. This dissertation investigates methodologies for consistent Kalman filtering with Lie-group based representations of the vehicle pose. Early results are centered around the relative navigation framework, which maintains filter observability and consistency by only tracking the state relative to the latest keyframe of an odometry system such as visual odometry or laser scan matching. A detailed derivation of a relative multiplicative extended Kalman filter, using a quaternion parameterization of the attitude state, is presented for application to multirotor vehicles.
