This qualitative study used interviews and a focus group to investigate how middle school teachers define, seek, and maintain their well-being in the workplace. The findings from this study suggested that teachers view well-being as subjective and individualized, shaped by their personal experiences. Teachers identified common themes of feeling good, holistic well-being, and acceptance as the foundation of their definitions. Teachers in this study identified the following components as essential well-being needs: meaningful connections, strong support systems, and opportunities to make positive impacts on the lives of their students and communities. Because of the significant impact, there is a need for educators to understand and implement trauma-informed strategies and practices within the classroom. The purpose of this program evaluation was to determine the effectiveness of the initial implementation of the professional learning module (PLM) entitled “Compassionate Care: Working With Students With ACEs.” The PLM was implemented at two Title 1 elementary schools in North Carolina. This qualitative dissertation explored the academic trajectories of 31 undocumented Latinx students in California who began their postsecondary education at community colleges and graduated from 4-year institutions. Guided by the undocumented community of trust model, which integrates Yosso’s (2005) community cultural wealth framework, Coleman’s (1994) theory of trust, and the newly introduced concept of alliance capital, this study examined how students leveraged seven forms of capital (i.e., aspirational, familial, navigational, social, resistance, linguistic, and alliance) to overcome educational barriers. Collaboration is crucial in Software Engineering (SE), yet factors like gender bias can shape team dynamics and behaviours. This descriptive case study examines an eight-week project involving 39 SE students across eight teams contributing to GitHub projects. Focusing on gender, we used a mixed-methods approach to analyse Slack communications, identifying gender differences in how students respond to initiated communications and comparing how students’ communications influenced other aspects of students’ performance, including learning gains. We found higher help-seeking and leadership behaviours in the all-woman team involved in this case study, while men responded more slowly. Although communication did not directly affect …

Grounded in the Educational Production Function framework and Oregon’s ESSA-aligned accountability system, this study examined the relationship between district-level staffing allocation proportions and student achievement outcomes. Within the constrained, zero-sum context of school district budgeting, the study examined whether the proportional distribution of personnel expenditures among certified, classified, and administrative staff was associated with differences in third grade English Language Arts (ELA) proficiency, eighth grade mathematics proficiency, attendance, and on-time graduation. Using an unbalanced panel of 519 district-year observations from Oregon public school districts (2021–2024), multiple regression models controlled for student poverty, disability status, and English learner enrollment. Entry-Level Occupational Therapy Doctorate - Doctoral Capstone Symposium

This doctoral capstone project aimed to enhance entry-level occupational therapy (OT) education by developing and evaluating evidence-based instructional materials addressing musculoskeletal and oncology rehabilitation within a doctorate curriculum. Designed as an oncology-focused experience, the project involved a two-phase approach: (1) testing educational techniques by implementation and evaluation of an elbow pathology lecture and lab, and (2) development of an asynchronous oncology rehabilitation unit informed by outcomes from the initial phase. The project was guided by the ASSURE instructional design model and emphasized active, visual, and case-based learning strategies to support clinical reasoning.

The purpose of this study was to develop and validate the Music Teacher Candidate Assessment (MTCA), a rubric-based tool for evaluating student teachers in music classrooms. Factor analyses of scores issued by university supervisors (USs), cooperating teachers (CTs), and student teachers (STs) supported construct validity, explained 53.5% of the variance, and revealed two subscales: Pedagogy (I) and Professionalism (II). Concurrent validity resulted from a strong correlation (r_s = .83) between evaluators’ rubric averages and holistic ratings of performance. School connectedness serves as a powerful lever for positive student outcomes. Specifically, student-educator relationships provide well-documented benefits, acting as a protective factor against adverse experiences. However, building and maintaining these relationships remains a complex challenge influenced by site-specific conditions. This challenge is further intensified when accounting for diverse cultural and racial backgrounds. The implementation of Texas's redesigned State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) introduced extended constructed response (ECR) items that required students to demonstrate reading comprehension through written responses. At the study site, fourth-grade students consistently demonstrated stronger reading comprehension than writing performance, revealing a gap in their ability to communicate understanding using evidence-based written responses. This improvement science dissertation examined how school teams used improvement science routines to strengthen planning and implementation in school improvement. The study focused on two California schools designated for Additional Targeted Support and Improvement (ATSI) or Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) for multiple years. Although both teams developed School Plans for Student Achievement (SPSAs), they demonstrated minimal sustained improvement, suggesting limitations to their underlying improvement processes. By discovering what methods voice teachers are using to prescribe vocalizes tells us how they are educating their singers on developing technical singing skills. This research was collected through a survey conducted in Qualtrics and was shared via social media voice teacher forums and collegiate music settings. Written in response to Branton Shearer’s (2026) paper on existential intelligence and existential reasoning, this paper argues that due to the lack of evidence of neural specialization and a developmental trajectory, pondering existential questions is best understood as philosophical thinking, rather than a distinct intelligence. The paper reflects on the status of existential thinking within the author’s framework for multiple intelligences.
