This fact sheet explores voting data of 1,407,761 Nevadans who participated in the 2020 election through in-person early, mail-in, absentee, or election day voting. The Secretary of State publishes the outcomes of each race, and results are broken down by county. Voting data are displayed as raw vote totals and percent shares of the total vote. Also included are data on the number of voters who declined to vote on each of Nevada’s five ballot questions. These data are calculated by subtracting the “yes” and “no” votes for each ballot measure from the total number of ballots cast both statewide …

JOHNSON CITY – (Jan. 22, 2021) Sungwon Chae, a doctoral student in the Clemmer College at East Tennessee State University, is the recipient of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Minority Scholarship.

The $2,000 scholarship provided by the NSCA Foundation is designed to encourage minorities ages 17 and older to enter the field of strength and conditioning.

Chae is currently in his first year of pursuing a Ph.D. degree in sport physiology at ETSU where his research focus is on resistance training and athlete monitoring.  He is currently assisting the ETSU Weightlifting Team as a sport scientist.

JOHNSON CITY (Jan. 22, 2021) – The Tennessee Law Enforcement Accreditation (TLEA) Program has granted a third accreditation status to the Department of Public Safety at East Tennessee State University.

To achieve accreditation with TLEA, an agency voluntarily submits to a three-year process of enhancing its professionalism and effectiveness utilizing 160 law enforcement standards and participating in a thorough on-site assessment. The standards evaluate the agency’s policies, which address a variety of areas including organizational, operational and budget management practices. Purpose: The purpose of this sequential explanatory mixed methods study was to identify the political styles of exemplary suburban elementary school district superintendents and school board members in Southern California as perceived by superintendents. In addition, it was the purpose of this study to identify and explain the political strategies exemplary suburban elementary school district superintendents in Southern California use to work with the different political styles of school board members.

With the expansion of higher education and the growth of online course offerings in Sub-Saharan Africa, there is a critical need to support faculty in developing the necessary skills to teach effectively online. The purpose of this qualitative, single-case study was to examine the nature of the discourse in which faculty members engaged within a virtual community of practice that was created to support their instructional design and online teaching efforts. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) provides a concurrent enrollment model to high schools across the United States. The concurrent enrollment opportunity offers science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) college-credit coursework taught by college-credentialed instructors on the student’s high school campus. One faculty member transitioned to Embry-Riddle’s main residential campus following seven years of service with ERAU’s concurrent enrollment program. During his tenure with ERAU’s concurrent enrollment program, in addition to instructing a variety of concurrent enrollment courses, he maintained an active research agenda that involved concurrently enrolled students. JOHNSON CITY – (Jan. 21, 2021) Olivia Ares, a senior at University School, is the winner of the Good Citizens Scholarship Contest hosted by the John Sevier-Sarah Hawkins Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.

In addition to being the chapter winner, Ares is also the Appalachian District winner and will be part of the state competition.

For the competition, Ares prepared an essay on a topic related to American heritage.
