JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – (Jan. 21, 2022) Sgt. Dreama Pullon from East Tennessee State University Public Safety has a new partner. You will see her riding around campus in Sgt. Pullon’s patrol car and also assisting at major events.

And she needs no introduction.

Pepper joined the ETSU Public Safety team in February 2020 as the department’s first therapy dog. She journeyed to ETSU from Florida via the Paws & Stripes Comfort Dog Program. 

Overnight, she became a rock star.

Despite the increase of research on leadership development strategies for principals, there continues to be a gap in literature that examined the effectiveness of executive coaching and mentoring on principals' sense of efficacy in the areas of instructional leadership, moral leadership, and management. The question of word formation, particularly the studying the ways of copulative compound words’ formation based on modern methods, remains contemporary linguistics’ one of the urgent problems. The relevance of this issue is increasing, especially for less-studied languages such as the Pashto language, since the language’s vocabulary is constantly enriching under modern requirements. Exemplary Practices Which Support Achievement Gaps In Reading And Writing For Hispanic Ell Learners In Title I Twenty-First Century Elementary Schools, Melinda Gonzalez

Purpose: The purpose of this phenomenological study was to identify and describe strategies used by public school 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade teachers to support English language learners in Title I public schools.

Methodology: This phenomenological study identified and described 14 teachers' 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade perceptions on effective strategies to support English language learners in reading and writing. Respondents were purposively chosen based on specific criteria and recommendations of an expert panel of experts and data was coded using NVIVO.

JOHNSON CITY – (Jan. 20, 2022) East Tennessee State University’s League of Legends team will begin its second season this Saturday, January 22 against Florida Polytechnic University.

The game begins at 4 p.m. and can be viewed at twitch.tv/etsuesports or on the 32-foot video wall in the esports arena inside the D.P. Culp Student Center. Livestreaming will start at 3:45 p.m.

How Can Assessment For Learning Be Useful For Self-Regulated Learning?: Four Approaches To Change Of Assessment Conceptions From Individualistic To Contextualistic, Kohei Nishizuka

Pedagogy and the Human Sciences

Critics argue that theoretical frameworks for assessment for learning (AfL) and self-regulated learning (SRL) are sociocultural practices reliant on others/mediating artifacts than on individual psychological operations. However, if the broader context of learning is neglected, the developmental model for fostering evaluative judgment cannot cope well with the contextual complexity of the formal and informal aspects of learning. How students perceive assessment is strongly related to their learning outcomes as it represents how much they harbor a spirit of improvement, social stress, and cooperative efficacy. Policymakers and professional educators attempt to be good stewards of public funds while simultaneously raising expectations for student outcomes that reflect academic excellence in the public school system. The purpose of this study was to determine the efficiency of Texas public school districts and the factors influencing the inefficiency of districts. This study is a replication of a similar efficiency study conducted by Carter (2012), which considered student performance in the 2009-10 school year on the TAKS tests. JOHNSON CITY — (January 28, 2022) East Tennessee State University has launched a new program, known as ETSU Heroes, to recognize and reward outstanding members of the university community. Up to six members of the ETSU community will be acknowledged each year in an annual ceremony. The inaugural ETSU Heroes Recognition Ceremony will take place on Wednesday, March 30.
