Arts In Criminal Justice And Corrections: International Perspectives On Methods, Journeys And Challenges, Edited By Amanda Gardner And Laura Caulfield, Kirstin Anderson Dr
Journal of Prison Education Research
It was the first day of my study I had planned as part of my PhD research. I had prepared all the materials the night before, took an early train to ensure I was on time, went through all the checks at the prison gate, set up my room and waited for the first participant to come in for their interview. I welcomed him with ease, introduced myself and went through the consent form. I turned on the audio recorder. ‘It’s just like the fucking police’. My heart sank. I don’t think I told anyone about how big a misgiving …

Teacher Perspectives Of Their Challenges In Supporting K-3 Students In Mathematics Proficiency, Jasmine Chanel Mills
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
The problem for this study was that mathematics preparation for students in K–3 classrooms often does not lead to mathematics proficiency for third grade students. Guided by Wigfield’s expectancy value theory, the purpose of this qualitative study was to explore teachers’ perspectives of children’s expectations and values related to mathematics and challenges teachers describe in supporting children’s mathematics achievement. Data were collected through 12 semistructured interviews with K–3 teachers in in a public school district in the eastern United States. Thematic analysis using open coding resulted in six themes which indicated that teacher beliefs and expectations are associated with mathematics …

Graduates’ Perceptions Of Their High School Career Technical Education Work-Based Learning Experiences, Cheryline M. Hewitt
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Little is known about how career and technical education (CTE) work-based learning (WBL) programs support student academic achievement and workforce outcomes. Guided by Kolb’s experiential learning theory, the purpose of this basic qualitative study was to explore high school graduates’ perceptions of their CTE WBL experiences and to identify how completing a CTE WBL program supported and hindered their academic and workforce achievement. Ten graduates of CTE WBL programs were recruited via postsecondary CTE school outreach, Facebook, and LinkedIn groups and participated in a semistructured interview. Thematic analysis using open coding was conducted. The data analysis resulted in three identified …

Exploring Teacher Perspectives On The Self-Esteem Of Students With Emotional And Behavioral Disorders: A Qualitative Study, Bahaa Al Ghraibeh
Archives of Assessment Psychology
Self-esteem affects many other abilities of students with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders (EBD). Teachers can play a crucial role in influencing the self-esteem of these students. This interpretive qualitative study aims to investigate teachers' perceptions of the self-esteem of students with EBD, identify the factors they believe affect these students’ self-esteem, and explore the strategies they employ to enhance the self-esteem of these students. The results reveal three key themes: first, teachers perceive that students with EBD frequently face challenges related to self-esteem; second, they recognize that a variety of factors influence the self-esteem of these students; and third, teachers …

Buletin Konseling Inovatif
The very fast development of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR) in the last decade have changed the way of mental health practice internationally, including Indonesia. Although these technologies extend reach, deepen therapeutic engagement, and facilitate clinical analysis, they also present serious ethical challenges with respect to privacy, algorithmic bias, depersonalization, and disparity. This integrative review draws on literature from counseling, digital ethics, immersive technologies, and Indonesian philosophical studies to consider how Pancasila can serve as a culturally situated ethical guide for technology-mediated counseling. The results disclose four overarching themes: shifting role of …

Understanding Gender Differences In Academic Achievement Among Engineering Students, Luai Al Labadi, Mohammad Saleh Bataineh, Lim Kyuson, Nida Siddiqui
International Journal for Research in Education
In recent years, a noticeable shift has occurred in academic performance, with females consistently outperforming males in mathematical engineering courses. To investigate the factors contributing to this trend, we conducted a comprehensive survey at a main university in UAE. Analyzing data from 431 engineering students, we found that the time spent studying outside the classroom plays a pivotal role, evidenced by a statistically significant p-value of 0.04, contributing to the gender-based performance disparity. Building upon these findings, we propose short-term solutions that instructors and universities can implement promptly to address this issue. This study underscores the importance of ongoing institution-level, …

Concurrent And Longitudinal Predictions Of Math Anxiety, Science Anxiety, And Enrollment In Science And Art Tracks In Secondary Education, Ahmed Megreya, Ahmed Al-Emadi
International Journal for Research in Education
The worldwide need for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) expertise highlights the critical importance of examining education-related emotions that shape students’ educational pathways and career decisions. Using a sample of tenth-grade students from Qatari schools (N = 391) and a follow-up sample in eleventh grade (N = 350), after their enrollment in either the art or science track, the present study examined the concurrent and longitudinal predictions of math anxiety, science anxiety, and track enrollments in secondary education. The science track attracted a larger number of male students, whereas the art track drew a higher proportion of female students. …

Forecasting Success Rates In The 2025-2030 High School Exam In Jordan Using Time Series Analysis, Haidar Ibrahim Zaza
International Journal for Research in Education
This study applied the ARIMA (1,1,2) model to develop a predictive framework for general success rates of General Secondary Education Certificate students in Jordan, based on annual data from 2005 to 2024 (n = 20). Using the Box–Jenkins time series analysis methodology—including model identification, parameter estimation, diagnostic checking, and forecasting—the ARIMA (1,1,2) specification was identified as the best fit according to the Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) and the Hannan–Quinn Criterion (HQ). All model parameters were statistically significant, and the model passed key accuracy diagnostics. Forecasts for the years 2025 through 2030 indicate a projected increase in success rates, ranging between …
