The subject of mental health among college students has been prevalent for decades. Today, college students are facing more challenges to mental wellness than ever before. Faculty are often the first and only point of contact for many students. Faculty have a role to play in supporting student mental health, but that role has not been clearly defined. This study aims to bring clarity to some of these critical issues and offers a lens into this broad topic from faculty themselves. The increasing reliance on short-term or contingent faculty reflects a shift away from tenure-track positions. Tenure-track faculty reduction is significant in academic disciplines such as music. This qualitative narrative inquiry study explored the professional experiences of contingent music faculty through semi-structured interviews. Narrative inquiry allows for individual participant voice in which this study examined participant relationships with faculty colleagues, employment experiences at higher education institutions, and working conditions. This study aimed to explore the post-COVID-19 relationship between burnout, grit, and years of experience in student affairs professionals at small colleges and universities in NASPA Region III (Southeastern United States). In the United States, women are underrepresented on college governing boards and trusteeships, occupying only about one-third of those positions (Madsen & Longman, 2020). In the Southern United States, female representation is dramatically lower, with women holding somewhere between 11-15% of those board positions (Madsen & Longman, 2020). Feminist research identifies persistent sexism as the reason for the continued gender inequities. This qualitative phenomenological study explored the lived experience of American conduct practitioners in their process of responding to reported racialized incidents. A diary method was used for participants to capture their experiences and interactions with the person(s) harmed and the offender. Of particular focus was the response of the reported offender when confronted by the conduct practitioner regarding their role in the incident. This study sought to determine in what ways resistance was exhibited by the offender, if at all, in addition to what strategies conduct officers employed when responding to resistance by the reported offender. This project investigates the Education Amendments Act of 1972, also known as Title IX. Specifically, the focus areas are scholarship dollars, proportionality, and equitable benefits promoting gender equity as required by Title IX and the NCAA. Data was collected through standard interview procedure and research through the Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act Online Database. My findings include that Southeastern Conference (SEC) schools spend more operationally and on recruiting male athletes, on average, than non-SEC schools, (2) the deviation for female athletes is not as large when surveying SEC and non-SEC schools, and (3) the male-female financial aid percentage gap is …

In 2015, the number of students enrolled in dual credit coursework in United States (U.S.) schools had reached over 1.4 million, a 68% increase over the previous few years (Field, 2021). By this year, 88% of U.S. high schools offered dual credit programs, and 34% of students enrolled in dual credit coursework, indicating a steady growth in dual credit programming (Rhine, 2022). Furthermore, 27% of public high school students in Texas earned credit for dual credit coursework (Villarreal, 2017). This study investigates the impact of principal turnover on teacher leadership, using mixed methods to analyze teacher leadership in low and high principal turnover elementary schools. Data collection includes teacher surveys and interviews with principals in four low turnover and four high turnover schools. Quantitative results indicate significant differences in teacher leadership, while qualitative findings reveal themes such as teacher professional development, support, leadership opportunities, anxiety, and sustainability. Objective: To assess the current practices of PA programs pertaining to how advocacy education is taught to their students and to determine differences among the programs.

Methods: PA program directors were interviewed about advocacy education including time allotted, when it is provided, learning objectives, source materials, teaching methods, determination of competency, and tracking of student advocacy participation after graduation.

Results: All noted that advocacy education is important, however meaningful, in-depth, instruction can be limited for a variety of reasons. Such reasons include limited educational time to ensure that a sizeable set of standards is met, limited access …

The purpose of this action research project was to understand and improve how student leaders in student government (senators) communicate with one another during their meetings. My research question was, how can I effectively work with the Associated Student Government (ASG) at the University of San Diego (USD) to improve the senator’s meeting communication through parliamentary practice? The use of Robert’s Rules (parliamentary procedure) is common for student government. I analyzed mixed-method data through three cycles: focus group, survey, and semi-structured interviews.
