Peace and Conflict Studies Journal Conference
The Role of Film and Media in Cultivating Hope: A Conflict Resolution Platform: The role of film is that it not only provides humans with a visceral experience when we watch atrocities of war and injustices to innocent humans, but films also provide humans with a pause to consider alternatives as we reimagine conflict from a different trajectory with a future that includes peace and conflict transformation. This session will allow participants to gain insight into how to approach films and media from the positive side in that they offer people an opportunity to learn and that people themselves have …

Fostering Future Professional Contemporary Collaboration, Rene'e M. Huth, Jordan M. Tucker
Internet Journal of Allied Health Sciences and Practice
Collaborative teamwork needs to be fostered early and often to meet contemporary practice ideals. This qualitative phenomenological designed study’s purpose was to investigate student physical therapists (SPTs) and student physical therapist assistants' (SPTAs) perceptions of an intraprofessional online activity reflective of contemporary home health and telehealth settings. A convenience sample of 25 SPTs from one program and 24 SPTAs from another program met synchronously online to view a video case of an ambulatory patient with dementia, develop a plan of care, and discuss appropriate interventions reflective of practice in Virginia. Following interactions, students wrote reflections on their experiences that were …

Collaborative 2:1 Model For Physical Therapy Clinical Education In The Inpatient Adult And Pediatric Settings: A Case Report, Neha Seth, Christine Friesen, Kathryn C. Nesbit
Internet Journal of Allied Health Sciences and Practice
Purpose
A collaborative model for clinical education is most commonly with 2 students and 1 clinical instructor. In physical therapy, one of the driving forces promoting a collaborative model is that the demand for clinical placements exceeds the supply of the traditional 1:1 model. A review of the literature revealed a paucity of studies of the collaborative model in the inpatient settings and a lack of studies on the inpatient pediatric setting. The purpose of this case report is to provide a comprehensive description of the collaborative model in the inpatient adult and pediatric setting that captures perspectives from multiple …

Their leadership often aligns with the 'Transformational Leadership' model, which fosters change in followers and society.
This research examines youth leaders in Non-Formal Peace Education in Post-War Sri Lanka, focusing on their adoption of the Transformational Leadership Model …

Journal of Science Education for Students with Disabilities
Medical students with disabilities constitute 7.6% of allopathic (MD) and 4.3% of osteopathic (DO) programs, and they are entitled to reasonable accommodation, per the Americans with Disabilities Act. However, research has demonstrated that disabled medical students often encounter barriers when accessing accommodations. In response to these barriers, Medical Students with Chronic Illness and Disability (MSDCI) National created the MSDCI Guide to Accessing Disability Accommodations During Undergraduate Medical Education (the Guide). We conducted a program evaluation to evaluate the efficacy of the Guide as a resource to the members of MSDCI, a program evaluation was conducted. A Qualtrics survey was distributed …

The core issue addressed by this study is the problem of poor school identification among students, which leads to low attendance, poor graduation rates, and limited participation in college preparation activities. This qualitative single-case study aimed to explore the perceptions of college facilitators and parents regarding how mandated engagement influences school identification in an early college high school. The early college model, a relatively new concept, was designed with the vision to “reimagine what the education of adolescents out to be” (D’Orio, 2022). Early college high schools allow students to enroll in college courses either part-time or full-time (Jett & …

The demographic landscape of the United States has indeed been undergoing significant changes over the past few decades, marked by a growing diversity in its population. This shift is primarily driven by factors such as immigration, higher birth rates among certain ethnic and racial groups, and the aging of the white population. According to a report published by the Census Bureau the United States is projected to be a majority minority country by 2044. The term "majority-minority" refers to a situation where no single racial or ethnic group constitutes a majority of the population. As a result of this shift, …

Rural, Gifted Student Experience In Appalachian Kentucky, Olivia G. Jarrell
Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Capstones
Current literature shows that gifted students' experiences often differ from nongifted peers. Similarly, research shows that rural students’ experiences are unique compared to nonrural peers. This study hopes to address the gap in literature on experiences of students at the intersection of giftedness and rurality with the question: How do rural, gifted students in Appalachian Kentucky experience and perceive K-12 schooling? Rural, gifted students exist in the overlap between two unique groups. Using a multi-case study, participants came from three separate school districts in a region of Appalachian Kentucky, with each district being a separate case. Data collection included observations …

A Study Of The Sense Of Teaching Self-Efficacy Among Emergency Certified Teachers In A Rural Eastern Oklahoma School District, Matthew J. Brunk
Student Theses and Dissertations
There is a teacher shortage in Oklahoma. To address this teacher shortage, the Oklahoma Department of Education has eased restrictions by providing an alternative pathway into the classroom called emergency-certification. The lack of traditionally prepared teachers entering the profession, coupled with untrained emergency-certified teachers entering the classroom instead, impacts students across the state. The purpose of this qualitative case study was to examine emergency-certified teachers' perceived sense of self-efficacy regarding their teaching pedagogy and classroom management in a rural Oklahoma district. Ten participants were chosen from six different rural school districts in eastern Oklahoma. Each participant was in either their …
