Video games have become a mainstream form of entertainment that are played regularly by many around the world, including a large number of youth with disabilities (YwD). Video games’ popular presence in our society has created exciting new opportunities for student learning that educators who work with YwD can leverage for both skill acquisition and increased social interactions. This study used a multiple baseline across behaviors design to analyze the effects of didactic training plus simulated rehearsal and feedback on a preservice teacher’s implementation of behavior management skills (i.e., opportunities to respond, behavior specific praise, token reward system) with students with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Results indicate a functional relation between the intervention package and increased teacher performance across all three behavior management skills. Participants reported positive perceptions and experiences of the use of simulated classroom environments like TeachLivE^TM as a training component. Implications for future research and practice are provided.

This study examined family and community engagement strategies that were designed to influence the educational outcomes, mental health, and social behaviors of Black youth (ages 13- 17) in Indianapolis, Indiana. Addressing gaps in research, it explored barriers to engagement and the culturally responsive approaches that strengthened school, family, and community partnerships. Data was collected through focus groups and demographic surveys, providing qualitative insights into the challenges and supports that shaped engagement. Findings from 27 participants (18 youth …

This paper presents a study of how social work educators in the U.S. are integrating environmental justice and ecological content into social work coursework and /or curriculum. Current literature in this area suggests that educators should be incorporating deep ecology philosophy, using experiential learning techniques, and moving away from anthropocentrism towards ecocentrism. Ten semi-structured interviews were conducted to gather data on pedagogical approaches, educator knowledge and previous training, and barriers to content integration. Eating disorders are serious mental health conditions with significant negative health outcomes, high mortality rates, and comorbid mental health conditions. Despite many available interventions for eating disorders, treatment remains challenging due to the difficulty in maintaining treatment gains. Understanding effective treatment processes is crucial. This study aimed to examine the role of self-perception components in predicting eating disorder severity in a residential sample of women and girls. Participants (N = 175) completed measures assessing eating disorder severity, self-kindness, self-judgment, and self-esteem at admission. This paper explores the perceptions of rural school principals in South Dakota regarding the implementation and challenges of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in PK-12 education, aiming to understand their familiarity with AI, considerations for integrating it into student learning, and perceived obstacles. Using a concurrent triangulation mixed methods design, the study combines quantitative data from a survey of 46 rural school principals with qualitative insights from open-ended responses. The purpose of this study was to compare the factors that affected the graduation rates of students enrolled in five charter high school dropout prevention programs that utilized the same online accelerated curriculum model. This study investigated the integration and impact of industry-recognized certifications (IRCs) within CTE programs in Illinois, particularly within the framework of Perkins V legislation. The research aimed to determine how IRCs enhance employability, increase starting salaries, and support career advancement for high school students through aligning CTE curricula with the demands of the current labor market.

This thesis examines how Air Force instructors translate officer occupational competencies into professional development courses. The study aims to address a pressing need to align Civil Engineer education with the Department of the Air Force objective of competency based education in the midst of changing operational demands. The methodology uses expert elicitation, thematic analysis, qualitative and quantitative statistics to formulate a curriculum development methodology. Data collection involved an expert elicitation from subject matter experts in the Civil Engineer career field. This data helped to pair 32E competencies with course learning objectives. Background

Accommodating clients' preferences is a cornerstone of evidence-based practice. However, little is known of clients' preferences for their therapists' relational styles.

Methods

We conducted a secondary analysis focused on identifying clients' preferences for their therapists' relational styles, using original data from Cooper et al.'s (2023) consensual qualitative research (CQR) study. Initial data collection involved conducting semi-structured interviews with a cohort of 13 clients who had completed up to 24 sessions of pluralistic psychotherapy. Of these participants, 10 identified as female and three identified as male.

Findings

This research introduces a novel computational framework to evaluate and predict the educational impact of serious games during development. By using finite state machines (FSM) and model-checking techniques, this study evaluates two serious games. Traditional evaluation approaches, often reliant on resource-intensive human trials, lack scalability and fail to provide early insight into the alignment of game mechanics with learning objectives. This study addresses these challenges of traditional evaluation methods.

Successful Repair Of Right Atrial Rupture Secondary To Blunt Chest Trauma: A Case Report And Discussion, Joshua D. Mohs, Owen G. Alvine, Sam C. Jensen

This case report discusses a successfully treated right atrial rupture secondary to blunt chest trauma. Secondary cardiovascular collapse requiring resuscitation occurred following suture repair of the 3 cm atrial laceration in the operating room (OR). Here we present a 15-year-old male who arrived by emergency medical services (EMS) to the emergency department (ED) as a level 1 trauma activation following a motor vehicle accident. Imaging scan showed a right hemothorax. Persistent labile blood pressures necessitated a thoracotomy. Exploration revealed a 3 cm laceration in the right atrium and prompt suture repair of the laceration was followed by secondary cardiovascular collapse. …
