Background/aim: The differences in molecular mechanisms during a stable period and the changes in the inflammatory responses during exacerbations between distinct severe asthma phenotypes remain unclear. In this study, we aimed to characterize stable and exacerbation period serum cytokine and periostin levels of 5 different predefined severe asthma phenotypes with real-life data. Background/aim: Vitamin D, adropin, proinflammatory cytokines, and oxidative stress closely related with metabolic homeostasis and endothelial dysfunction. The aim of the present study is to investigate how vitamin D levels affect serum adropin, IL-1ß, IL-6, and oxidative stress. Materials and methods: A total of 77 female subjects were divided into 3 groups according to vitamin D levels. Biochemical parameters, adropin, IL-1ß, IL-6, oxidative stress markers were studied in these groups, and the results were compared statistically. Background/aim: The purpose of this study is to investigate the success rate of volar plate treatment of distal radius fractures with preservation of the pronator anterior muscle; the incidence of complications, such as infection, vascular nerve injury, and tendon injury; fracture healing rate; and changes in muscle anatomy. Background/aim: Sacrococcygeal teratomas (SCT) are known as rare tumors, but they are the most common tumor in fetuses and newborns. This study aims to present fetal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings of SCT diagnosed prenatally and compare them with that of the prenatal Ultrasound (US) findings. Background/aim: This study was designed to compare the outcomes of mini-percutaneous cystolithotomy (mPCL) and transurethral cystolithotripsy (TUCL) in treating bladder stones in preschool-aged children (≤6 years old). Materials and methods: Twenty-four patients treated with mPCL and 28 patients treated with TUCL for bladder stones were compared retrospectively. The operative and postoperative outcomes of both groups were analyzed. Results: The mean age and gender distribution were similar between the groups. Background/aim: It was aimed to analyze the relationship between tuberculosis-related mortality and nitrous oxide emission levels in the world with the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) Method. Materials and methods: WHO ICD-10 mortality list data and the World Bank Country Data (WBCD) were used between 1997 and 2017 for 12 countries. Cubic regression analysis was used for EKC Analysis. Results: The difference between male and female deaths between 1996 and 1998 has increased sharply since 1999. Male deaths consistently occurred significantly more than female deaths. Materials and methods: Forty-eight rats were randomly divided into four equal groups. The modified McFarlane flap was chosen as the flap model. Neonatal brain injury is a significant reason of neurodevelopmental abnormalities and long-term neurological impairments. Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy and preterm brain injury, including intraventricular hemorrhage are the most common grounds of brain injury for full-term and preterm neonates. The prevalence of hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy varies globally, ranging from 1 to 3.5/1000 live births in high-resource countries and 26/1000 in low-resource countries. Preterm birth's global incidence is 15 million, a significant reason for infant mortality and morbidity, permanent neurologic problems, and the associated social and economic burden. Background/aim: Studies regarding effectiveness of anakinra and tocilizumab treatments in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have contradictory results. Furthermore, there is scarce comparative data regarding superiority of any agent. Background/aim: We aimed to evaluate the efficacy of fulvestrant and its affecting clinical factors, including the optimal sequencing of fulvestrant and chemotherapy in a real-life cohort. Methods: The data of 256 metastatic hormone-positive breast cancer patients treated with fulvestrant were evaluated. The association of clinical factors with survival was analyzed with Kaplan-Meier and Cox-regression analyses. Results: The median age of patients was 57 years. More than half of the patients used fulvestrant in later lines and after chemotherapy (75.8%). The median progression-free (PFS) and overall survival (OS) of all cohort were 6.05 ± 0.56 and 29.70 ± 1.61 months, respectively. …

Materials and methods: This was a retrospective cohort study involving two hepatobiliary centres from January 1, 2012, to June 30, 2018.
