Is Competence Without Humility Wasted In Building The Trust Necessary For Knowledge Transfer In Younger/Older Worker Dyads?, Cara-Lynn Scheuer, Catherine Loughlin, Dianne Ford, Dennis Edwards

Management and Decision Sciences

Successful knowledge transfer (KT) between younger and older workers (YW and OW, respectively) is critical for organizational success, especially in light of the recent surge in employment volatility among the youngest and oldest segments of the workforce. Yet, practitioners and scholars alike continue to struggle with knowing how best to facilitate these exchanges. The qualitative study offers insight into this phenomenon by exploring how KT unfolds in YW/OW dyads. The authors performed a reflexive thematic analysis of semistructured interviews with two samples of blue- and white-collar younger/older workers from the USA (N = 40), whereby the authors interpreted the "lived …

This study aims to understand the impact of cultural microaggressions on job outcomes and the moderating effects of inclusivity practices and employee coping strategies. We draw upon the minority stress model and use quantitative methods to determine the relationship between cultural microaggressions and various job outcomes. Findings …

We interviewed 30 SME owners and managers in Indonesia and analyzed the data using thematic analysis to understand how SMEs practice sustainability innovation. The findings show that sustainability innovation in the form of product innovation is commonly practiced through the use of more environmentally friendly raw materials and packaging materials. You Have To Play To Win: Value Capture In Open Innovation, John T. Pritchard

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Despite the extensive research on open innovation, debate remains on the relationship between open innovation and firm performance. No consensus exists on the measures of performance and the mechanisms that enable value capture remain largely unexplored. This dissertation addresses these issues in two parts. First, a theoretical model based on knowledge flows is introduced. Knowledge is at the heart of open innovation and this dissertation examines the role that external and internal knowledge play in firm performance outcomes. It integrates the dynamic capability view and open innovation literature to build a framework and set of arguments on how knowledge is …

The Back Page Commentary: Let’S Talk About The Real World, Danielle Gehlert Dds Nov 2023

The Back Page Commentary: Let’S Talk About The Real World, Danielle Gehlert Dds

The Journal of the Michigan Dental Association

Dr. Danielle Gehlert, a private practitioner, writes that in the realm of continuing education for dental professionals, there's a need for a shift in focus from idealized, "sexy" cases to real-world patient scenarios. This commentary calls for seminars and programs emphasizing long-term restorative planning, including successes and failures. The practical considerations of patient financial limitations and willingness to engage in dental care must be integral to treatment plans. Real-world cases should reflect the diverse situations dental practitioners encounter and the ethical responsibility to provide affordable and effective treatment options.
