The surge in U.S. business formation has been accelerated by generative artificial intelligence (AI) and is often interpreted as evidence of renewed economic vitality. This perspective argues that the same trend also creates a consequential challenge for human resource development (HRD). This is because new ventures may achieve commercial reach and technical capability before developing the human systems needed to support learning, judgment, coordination, and workforce development. This temporal imbalance is theorized as venture heterochrony. Its accumulated human and organizational consequences are conceptualized as organizational formation debt. Egypt has more than doubled women’s board representation since 2019, but the pace has slowed to 0.5 percentage points a year, less than half of what is needed to reach 30% by 2030.

Since the Women on Boards indicator was established, Egypt has made measurable progress in women’s board representation, rising from 10.0% in 2019 to 24.8% in 2025. This is a 14.8-percentage-point increase, equivalent to a 148% increase from the 10% baseline. Organizations increasingly use digitally captured behavioral traces to infer engagement, performance, and participation. Yet visible activity is an imperfect proxy for underlying capability, particularly when structural constraints reorganize when and how participation occurs. Using working multigenerational caregivers as a theoretically revealing case, this paper develops a governance-centered account of how constraint-shaped participation variance in presence, timing, and pacing may be misclassified as disengagement within proxy-based organizational systems. We theorize this failure as a self-reinforcing control loop in which misclassification activates penalty-centered responses that further disrupt participation and contribute to capability-flow leakage. Orchestrating Customer Value Networks: Relationship-Centered Platforms As Sustainable Solutions To Subscription Fatigue, Hesham O. Dinana, Hoda El Kolaly

Purpose

This study examines how digital platform organizations can overcome subscription fatigue by transforming transactional relationships into value co-creation systems that enhance customer lifetime value and competitive advantage.

Design/methodology/approach

The study employs a multi-source comparative analysis integrating financial performance data from 28 global digital media organizations, leading consultancy insights, and 12 case studies across North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific. Exploratory and theory-building rather than hypothesis-testing, it relies exclusively on secondary and case-based evidence, supplemented by insights from Egypt’s digital media market.

Findings
