This project explores what professional burnout is in the context of owner-operated businesses. The topic was selected based on my own experiences of burnout in my business. After just a few years of working without boundaries, I began to feel the lingering symptoms of stress. Pushing through the stress of running a creative business on my own eventually led to a state of debilitating burnout that caused me to stop all operations and allow my business to run on auto-pilot. This study developed a reliable scale for measuring Social Capital in the context of tourism operations and examines its influences on Peoples' Involvement. The quantitative research method was employed, and the five stages of data purification processes were performed: identification of dimensions and indicators, item-to-total correlation, and explorative factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and the structural equation model. The study identifies four dimensional scales of social capital across 13 indicators: bonding social capital, social bridging capital, social linking capital, and social harmless capital, and confirms that social capital has a significant influence on peoples' involvement. Authentic leadership has garnered increasing attention from scholars and practitioners for its emphasis on ethical and transparent leadership practices that foster positive organizational outcomes. Despite its popularity, research into its antecedents remains underdeveloped. This study is a response to calls to examine potential psychometric predictors of authentic leadership, focusing on temperament as a biologically-rooted factor. This quantitative research involved surveying 338 U.S. leaders on temperament and authentic leadership. The goal of this study was to explore individual and organizational factors of professional burnout (PB) among US brewery and distillery employees, as no known published research exists for the phenomenon in these industries. PB is a phenomenon characterized by exhaustion, cynicism, and reduced accomplishment, negatively impacting employee well-being and organizational performance (Edú-Valsania et al., 2022)—further, burnout's frequency and intensity across various industries and occupations (Hammond et al., 2018). When organizational choices contradict the leaders’ beliefs or behaviors, psychological discomfort can occur (Festinger, 1957). The effects of psychological discomfort have several disadvantages to organizational progress, including decreased adaptation to change, snap judgments, and ineffective decision-making. While existing research highlights the effects of psychological discomfort experienced by employees, a gap has been identified when exploring information on leader-experienced psychological discomfort (Hinojosa et al., 2016; Telci et al., 2011).

Wealth management firms have failed to produce meaningful organic growth in the years leading up to the early 2020s; treading water with average growth of 3-4% (Sharry, 2024), while client assets grew 19% during that same period (Dai et al., 2023). Achieving sex-based equity in organizational leadership roles has proven to be a 'wicked' problem with existing diversity initiatives providing minimal improvement. In this paper, we address this issue by considering a key inhibiter to women's leadership advancement—biased perceptions of female leaders' competence—and links to a climate for inclusion. In Study 1 (N = 236), we develop and validate a Diversity-Specific Empowering Leadership (DSEL) measure, and demonstrate its value in predicting perceptions of female leaders' competence when compared to alternative leadership models (empowering leadership, transformational leadership, diversity-specific transformational leadership, transactional leadership, leader diversity-valuing behavior, and inclusive leadership).
