Extraction Of Cannabidiol From Hemp Leaf Using Supercritical Fluid Technique And Production Of Cannabidiol Emulsion Microencapsule By Freeze Drying, Saranya Jansamutr

This study aimed to extract, purify, formulate, and evaluate the bioactivities of cannabidiol (CBD) derived from hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) leaves. Supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) extraction at pressures of 1,600–1,800 psi, combined with flash chromatography, was employed to obtain CBD-rich extracts. Higher extraction pressure significantly increased both yield and CBD concentration (p ≤ 0.05), with 1,800 psi selected for further formulation. The extracts were developed into emulsions and microcapsules using freeze-drying and ß-cyclodextrin as an encapsulating agent to enhance chemical stability. Dry Dipterocarp Forests (DDFs) in Thailand face severe degradation, primarily from human-induced fires, which significantly diminishes ectomycorrhizal (ECM) fungal diversity and the productivity of valuable wild mushrooms, such as Astraeus odoratus. However, concrete guidelines for restoring ECM fungal diversity in these degraded areas are currently lacking. This research aimed to develop a sustainable approach to enhance ECM fungal diversity and facilitate the restoration of degraded DDFs by utilizing A. odoratus mycelia. In recent years, the fungus Fusarium keratoplastic has been associated with failed sea turtle eggs. One fungal isolate collected from a failed egg collected on Wassaw Island, GA in 2020 contained endohyphal bacteria, bacteria living within the hyphae of the fungus. The type of endohyphal bacteria (EHB), as well as the relationship between the bacteria and fungal hosts, are currently unknown. Previous research on the same fungus and EHB, specifically Chitinophaga sp., discovered that EHB influenced the ability of the fungus to utilize carbon sources. The cooling effect of different vented packaging designs was investigated for packed muskmelons fruits in a commercial cold storage condition. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation and experiments were used. The airflow pattern, heat transfer and temperature profiles were predicted from simulation and analysed. The CFD results reveal an uneven and low efficient airflow distribution inside a commercially used vented packaging (Box A). This resulted slow cooling of the fruits in Box A. Guided by the principles of Resource-Based View theory, this qualitative study aims to identify the benefits and challenges of Halal certificate application from the perspectives of Bruneian Halal food SMEs, as they obtain the Brunei’s Halal certificate and label. Based on the purposive and snowball sampling, four semi-structured interviews were conducted with business owners and managers in the Halal food industry. The larval stage of the darkling beetle, Tenebrio molitor, often referred to as the yellow mealworm, has received significant attention as a promising source of high-quality protein for human consumption due to its exceptional nutritional profile. This study focused on assessing the antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of protein concentrates and hydrolysates obtained from mealworm specimens raised under distinct dietary conditions. This study aimed to assess the impact of various vinegar compositions used as pre-treatment for Pacific Yellowtail Emperor (PYE) fillets during the oven-drying process, with a focus on moisture content and optimal drying conditions. Two types of commercially available vinegar, Superior Vinegar and Datu Puti Vinegar, were compared, and different drying temperatures were evaluated. The investigation revealed that the drying temperature significantly influenced the moisture content of the dried PYE fillets. Tropical marine fish is a main raw material for surimi processing plants, including golden threadfin bream (Nemipterus virgatus Houttuyn, 1782) and swallowtail dwarf monocle bream (Parascolopsis eriomma Jordan & Richardson, 1909). After processing, more than 60% of fish are considered as byproducts (i.e., head, viscera, skin, bones, fins and scale), and tend to discard due to poor-utilization.
