Students face substantial challenges in readying for their professional lives. They must select a field, find a suitable job within that field, and lay a foundation for their career. To aid with this, we present the career project, an efficient career- and self-exploration assignment. The project comprises a resume assessment, identifying short-term and long-term career goals, backup plans, personal strengths and selling points, conducting organizational research, an informational interview with someone in their desired field, and a market assessment by a knowledgeable professional. In addition to standardized tests and program assessments of academic programs, tracking college graduates’ employment is also dimed as an effective method for measuring student learning and success. The opioid epidemic began in the 1990s with an increased prescribing of opioids across the nation. Between the years 2013 and 2014, opioid overdose death rates began to increase in West Virginia. By the year 2015, West Virginia held the highest number of opioid overdose death rates in the country. In 2021, fatal overdoses claimed more than 1,417 lives in West Virginia and of those 1,417, an estimated 1,201 of them were due to opioid use.

I examine the association between CEO, CFO, and audit partner gender and accounting conservatism using a unique sample that encompasses hand-collected data. While accounting conservatism reflects less risky accounting choices, risk aversion theory indicates that females are more risk averse than males. I apply risk aversion theory to accounting conservatism and investigate two research questions: (i) Does the CEO or CFO and audit partner gender influence accounting conservatism? In the aftermath of the sub-prime mortgage bubble, the Federal Reserve implemented large scale asset purchase (LSAP) programmes that aimed to increase bank liquidity and lending. The excess liquidity created by quantitative easing (QE) in turn may have stimulated bank risktaking in search of higher profits. Using comprehensive data on balance sheets, risk measures, and daily market returns in the U.S., we investigate the link between QE, bank risk-taking, profitability, and systemic risk. We find that, particularly during the third round of QE, banks that were more exposed to the unconventional monetary policy increased their risk-taking behaviour and profitability. However, …
