Physicians and educators tend to be more versed in recognizing disease patterns and medical problems than in identifying malfunctioning patterns in the psychological aspects of their mentees and work environments. This study uses an econometric approach to examine how sustainability indicators affect agricultural output in Iraq. Water sustainability, food security sustainability, the agricultural labor force, and virtual water imports are independent variables, and agricultural output is the dependent variable. The analysis uses annual data from 1990 to 2024. The Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model is applied to analyze both short- and long-run relationships. Specifically, the results confirm the existence of a long-run equilibrium relationship between sustainability indicators and agricultural output. In the long run, water sustainability positively affects agricultural output, indicating a direct, expected relationship. Furthermore, food security sustainability has …

This paper introduces a novel nonparametric hybrid cyber-intelligence-based statistical process control and anomaly detection framework in time series data. It is developed to overcome the shortcomings of the classical control schemes in dealing with complex, abnormal, and noisy input data, especially when it is autocorrelated. The proposed methodology combines three technical pillars: First, it utilizes a bidirectional long-short-term memory architecture (Bi-LSTM) to capture long-term time dependency and learn nonlinear patterns, leaving only true deviations as residuals that remove trends and noises from the market. This study investigates the strategic dilemma faced by banking institutions in allocating resources between digital and conventional customer acquisition channels. Using a unique panel dataset from 38 Islamic bank branches, we analyze the comparative effectiveness of digital (Online Onboarding) and conventional (Payroll and Branch Registration) strategies on branch-level financial performance. Our findings reveal a significant efficiency-profitability paradox: a digital-dominant strategic orientation is associated with superior operational efficiency but does not translate into higher profitability. Furthermore, our analysis uncovers a critical nuance in conventional strategies through the discovery of inconsistent mediation: the institutional Payroll channel, while directly boosting margins, simultaneously erodes …

Many employers screen job applicants with algorithms built by the same few algorithm vendors. We hypothesize that algorithmic monoculture leads to the same individuals and members of the same racial groups facing rejection. We acquire and analyze a novel dataset of 3 million applicants submitting 4 million applications where all the applications are screened by algorithms built by the same vendor. We find clear racial disparities in applicant outcomes. Of all applications submitted by Asian and Black applicants, 14.74% and 25.87% are submitted to positions that adversely impact Asian and Black applicants, respectively, according to U.S. employment discrimination standards. The escalating climate crisis has elevated waste management from an operational concern to a critical issue of corporate governance. However, the role of board connectedness in shaping firms' waste practices remains largely unexplored. Drawing on resource dependency and social capital theories, this study examines how board network centrality influences waste management practices. Employing pooled OLS on 4948 firm- year observations from US- listed firms during 2004–2023, we find that higher board connectedness leads to a significant reduction in waste generation. Economically, a one standard deviation increase in DEGREE centrality is associated with a 3.4% decrease in total waste generation. Our …

This phenomenological study explores the lived experiences of Black women community leaders as they navigate a balance between their professional, personal, and community leadership roles. The research design uses the theoretical frameworks of Black Feminist Intersectionality and Role Theory, specifically addressing the cultural burdens imposed by the Strong Black Woman archetype, which adds additional role strain. The study began with a questionnaire completed by 54 Black women community leaders, followed by 20 in-depth, semi-structured interviews selected from this pool.
