Ferula hermonis (F. hermonis, Fh) is one of the important medicinal-plants cultivated in Lebanon. The aim of this study is to phytochemically-investigate F. hermonis and its most active compound(s) and to explore their neuroprotective potentials utilizing an in vivo model of glycine receptor. HPLC-DAD investigation was done to identify F. hermonis phytochemical constituents. Combined chromatographic, bio-guided fractionation, and in vivo model of glycine receptor were utilized to identify its most active constituent(s). Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a clinical syndrome with diverse pathophysiology. It is associated with increased mortality rate and hospitalization time. Different biomarkers are used for early diagnosis of AKI including Kidney injury molecule-1 (KIM-1). The aim of this study is to determine the association between KIM-1 gene polymorphism and AKI in Lebanese hospitalized patients. Blood samples were collected from fifty AKI patients and forty controls from the Beqaa and North Lebanon to isolate the genomic DNA. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used to amplify exon 4. Evaluation Of Phenolic Content, Antiradical And Antibacterial Activities Of Orange And Carrot Pomace Extracts, Dina Cheaib, Karim Raafat, Nada El Darra

Orange and carrot pomace are considered as food wastes, despite their high content in beneficial health compounds. The comparison of phenolic extracts from orange and carrot pomace, showed higher values for Orange pomace, with a polyphenols concentration (130 mg/L), flavonoids (8.67 mg/L) and tannins (2.5 mg/L). A higher antiradical activity was also noted for orange pomace. However, carrot pomace presented a higher anti-bacterial activity. The beneficial activities of these extracts were owed to their high content in phenolic acids. Our study exhibited that orange and carrot pomace might be utilized as natural preservatives for many industrial applications.

This study assessed alignment between concepts included in current definitions of Entrepreneurial Spirit and job descriptions written by employers seeking undergraduate business administration or management degrees. In addition, a research-based definition of the Entrepreneurial Spirit was sought. A literature review generated concepts attributed to the Entrepreneurial Spirit. The quantitative conceptual content analysis examined job descriptions from Indeed. Implementation, creativity, and collaboration were concepts most appearing in job descriptions. The Marketing Manager job title contained the most Entrepreneurial Spirit concepts. Findings identified skills that are explicit in job descriptions which is useful for employers seeking Entrepreneurial Spirit in their hires.

The Leading Economic Indicator – Nebraska (LEI-N) 1 rose by 1.10% during December of 2019. The increase in the LEI-N, which is designed to predict economic activity six months into the future, confirms expectations for moderate economic growth in Nebraska through mid-2020. The leading indicator primarily rose due to strong business expectations. Respondents to the December Survey of Nebraska Business reported plans to increase sales and employment at their businesses over the next six months. There also was a rebound in building permits for single-family homes during the month, suggesting an increase in construction activity mid-year.

JOHNSON CITY (Jan. 22, 2020) – Dr. William Stone, a professor at East Tennessee State University’s Quillen College of Medicine, is studying a new precision medicine approach to treating bladder cancer.

Stone, who is also director of pediatric research in Quillen’s Department of Pediatrics, received a Research Development Committee grant from ETSU to further his study of an enzyme called an esterase.

The study quantifies the impact that new custom checks and Agri/SPS inspection procedures could have on agri-food supply chains. It is possible that these checks will be introduced at both EU27 and UK ports. The analysis shows the potential risks to the Irish agri-food supply chain. These risks are explained through a range of non-tariff barriers and Ireland/EU transport connectivity scenarios. There is potential for disruption in the long-established transportation routes between Ireland, the UK and Continental European markets. The purpose of this thesis is to examine the performance of both Islamic and conventional stocks, and to investigate whether the Islamic filtering criteria acts as a shield of protection for investors during crisis or not, based on a panel sample of 12 countries in the MENA region covering 10 different sectors from 1998-2018. Using panel fixed effect regression. We divided out sample into three periods; 1998-2006 pre-crisis period, 2007-2008 crisis period and 2009-2018 post crisis period. We conduct an experiment on the Egyptian money market by testing how volatility in interest rates and asymmetric (redemption-only) structure of money market funds (MMFs) affect investors who redeem after interest rate hikes, versus those who remain in the fund. We conduct simulations on MMFs with different durations. Given current MMF accounting treatment, results show that increasing interest rates, higher redemptions than subscriptions, and longer fund durations cause unfair treatment of investors who remain in the fund after disrupted periods. This research aims to examine the determinants of service performance in higher education institutions on student perceptions. This research uses Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) in determining the factors. The construct is built based on the literature on service performance and higher education. Data were collected using a questionnaire to a state university with legal entity students in Bandung. The results indicate that there are seven determinants of service performance, namely reliability, assurance, tangibles, responsiveness, access, and reputation. To help alleviate these issues, shared mobility networks have been launched in hundreds of cities worldwide to provide citizens with alternatives to personal autos and to other less sustainable methods of transport (Fishman, 2016; Zhang et al., 2015).
