Developing pilgrimage tourism requires a set of unique attractors, as well as efficient destination governance structures that manage such attractors and balance stakeholder interests. This study analyses the development of pilgrimage tourism in Kavala (Northern Greece), a city with unique religious and cultural attractors connected to the Apostle Paul. By deploying a mix of literature review, on-site analysis and interviews with twelve local stakeholders, this paper first examines the general potential for pilgrimage tourism in the region and gives recommendations for its development. This research aims to examine the influence of Islamic attributes of destinations, which include worship facilities, halalness, and general Islamic morality, on Saudi Arabians’ decision to visit Jakarta with tourism destination image as a mediating variable. The research data were obtained from 200 respondents who visited Jakarta and completed the administered questionnaires. The analysis was carried out using the SEM technique with AMOS software. Using a quantitative research approach, 267 Hindu pilgrims in Kashmir valley were asked to complete questionnaire to carry out this study. One sample t test and linear correlation modus operandi were introduced for testing assumptions of the study. The Impact Of Board Composition And Activity On Non-Performing Loans, Md Nurul Islam

2020 Awards for Excellence in Student Research and Creative Activity

This paper examines the impact of board composition and activity on bank non-performing loans (NPLs). The empirical evidence suggests that NPLs are negatively related to board independence, separation between the CEO and chairman roles, directors with financial expertise, and the frequency of committee meetings. Additionally, we find that, during the financial crisis period (2008–2009), a large board size and the presence of female directors may also help lower NPLs. The results support the hypothesis that shareholder-friendly bank boards and active boards are more effective monitors, and thus help lower bank’s NPLs.

Research consultations are a valuable service offered by academic libraries for students who are able to visit the library, however, many students enrolled in online degree programs or considering enrollment have limited access to campus services. We designed and tested a virtual reference consultation service for distance learners and graduate students. The main feature of inflation targeting (IT) framework is the public announcement by the central bank that it will keep inflation at a numerical inflation target. A large literature addresses preconditions that a country should satisfy before adopting IT. However, there is much debate about whether satisfying these preconditions are essential. This study addresses this debate. Empirical results indicate that the fulfillment of preconditions before IT adoption ensures effective implementation of IT in the short-run. To address Washington State’s high pediatric fatal drowning rates in Asian children, especially Vietnamese, we conducted and evaluated a community water safety campaign for Vietnamese American families. Working with community groups, parks departments and public health, we disseminated three messages (learn to swim, swim with a lifeguard, and wear a life jacket) in Vietnamese media and at events, increased access to free/low cost swim lessons and availability of lifeguarded settings and life jackets in the community. Parents completed 168 pre- and 230 post-intervention self-administered, bilingual surveys. This study examined the impact of a LGBTQ diversity training on the attitudes and professional competencies of aquatic employees within a campus recreational sports setting. While diversity training is often discussed as a key component of inclusive aquatic programming, little empirical research examining the outcomes associated with such trainings exists. HBCUs consist of public, private, 2-year, and 4-year institutions (U.S. Department of Education, 2018). Historically, HBCUs provided descendants of the enslaved access to higher education opportunities (Brown, Donahoo, & Bertrand, 2001). A detailed summary of each philosopher’s respective ideology is given, as well as an explanation for how such ideologies arose. Furthermore, an illustration of how the writings of Marx and Smith impacted historical events is provided.
