JOHNSON CITY – (April 16, 2020) -- For physical education teachers, instructing students how to play tennis, do squats and perform other types of body movements can be challenging in an all-online learning environment. Dr. Kason O’Neil from East Tennessee State University is part of a group of researchers who are leading a grassroots effort to provide strategies, resources and other virtual teaching techniques to the physical education community across the nation.

Antecedents To Buyer-Supplier Coordination In The Pharmaceutical Supply Chain, Thanigavelan Jambulingam, Ravi Kathuria

Business Faculty Articles and Research

Purpose

The purpose of this study is to understand the antecedents that influence supply chain coordination in the pharmaceutical supply chain using the transaction cost analysis framework.

Design/methodology/approach

Data from 156 retail pharmacies on their relationship with the pharmaceutical wholesalers are used to test the hypotheses.

Findings

The findings of this paper show the importance of antecedents that are based on the transactional cost theory, such as asset specificity and environmental uncertainty. These antecedents impact the supply chain process coordination at different levels – transactional, operational and strategic.

Research limitations/implications

Future research may investigate additional antecedents using other theoretical lenses. …

Background

International awareness of the impact of global warming and climate change is increasing. Developing countries face the task of achieving sustainable economic growth while also improving the efficiency of their energy consumption. The E7 countries (Brazil, India, Indonesia, Mexico, People’s Republic of China, Russia, and Turkey) are all highly concerned with the promotion of carbon-emission-reduction strategies.

Methods

This research uses a bootstrap autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) bound test with structural breaks to examine the cointegration and causality relations between economic growth, energy consumption, and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in the E7 countries.

The purpose of this paper is to identify the employability skills lacking in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) industry from employers' perspectives to assist STEM educational institutions in creating more relevant programs inclusive of employability skills.

The use of information technology (IT) is foundational to modern work systems. However, the IT use construct is not fully understood and has not been clearly defined. Confounding the understanding of IT use are similar, yet often conflicting, conceptualizations, indicative of the jangle fallacy. The jingle fallacy is also found in the inconsistent measures employed to study the IT use construct. Consequently, the existing literature does show that there are multiple forms of use. Most deaths by drowning (91%) have occurred in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), particularly in Southeast Asia (35%) and Africa (20%), in proportion to total drowning deaths worldwide. Poor data collection in LMICs hinders the planning, implementation, and evaluation of prevention strategies. The objective of this study was to review the rates and risk factors of unintentional drowning in LMICs and to identify drowning prevention strategies within a socio-ecological health promotion framework. The purpose of this study is to ascertain the statistical and economic significance of non-traditional credit data for individuals who do not have sufficient economic data, collectively known as the unbanked and underbanked. The consequences of not having sufficient economic information often determines whether unbanked and underbanked individuals will receive higher price of credit or be denied entirely. In terms of regulation, there is a strong interest in credit models that will inform policies on how to gradually move sections of the unbanked and underbanked population into the general financial network.

This study aims to test bigenderism, a universalistic theory that purports to explain why trans men employees enjoy greater organizational acceptance and superior economic outcomes compared to trans women employees. Respondents were presented with one of two case studies in which they had to choose whether or not to respect the right of a trans employee to use the restroom of their choice at work. Undeployed charitable assets in donor-advised funds (DAFs) reached $121.4 billion in 2018‒including $33.9 billion at Community Foundations. Most of these undeployed funds are invested in conventional financial instruments. However, DAFs present a unique opportunity to promote impact investing into the local community, including Community Development Financial Institutions that serve their local communities. JOHNSON CITY (April 14, 2020) – East Tennessee State University is expanding early admission opportunities for ETSU undergraduates who want to attend Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy.

The university recently approved a new 3+1 degree completion program for biology and chemistry majors in the College of Arts and Sciences and health sciences majors in the College of Public Health.

The Passion Bug: How And When Do Leaders Inspire Work Passion?, Violet Ho, Marina N. Astakhova

Drawing from signaling theory, we propose a work passion transfer model where leaders' passion is transmitted to employees through the former's leadership style and is contingent on employees' perceived importance of performance to self-esteem (IPSE). Data from 201 supervisor–employee dyads from the health-care industry show that leaders' harmonious passion led to employees' harmonious passion through charismatic leadership, whereas contingent reward leadership accounted for the transfer of obsessive passion; IPSE did not play a moderating role for either form of passion. This article examines how ANAO has examined the performance of Australian Army programs and strengths and weaknesses found in these programs while recommending changes to improve program performance.
