Abstract

Paul’s writings in the Bible, although primarily intended to serve spiritual ends, were found to also contain practical leadership wisdom long before these concepts were developed and formalized in secular leadership literature. Seven leadership themes emerged out of this conceptual study, namely: concepts of authority, responsibility, and accountability; the need for personal integrity among leaders, the need to build ethical organizations, situational leadership, fostering unity in diversity, the teaching role of leaders, and ensuring organizational continuity and organizational growth. The paper aims to advance an understanding of the relationship between servant leadership and attachment styles. This paper provides a review of servant leadership and attachment styles to explain how this understanding can be used to confront challenges faced by leaders due to a crisis. A proposed conceptual model is posited to investigate the moderating effect of followers' attachment styles on the relationship between servant leadership and desired follower outcomes. There is a leadership continuum that ranges from extreme self-interest/narcissism to human-centered leadership. During these chaotic times, corporate boards must hire human-centered CEOs and understand that companies must focus on society's needs, not only profit if capitalism is to thrive. People want to work for companies with a soul and desire to purchase products – and even pay more- from firms that seek to improve the world. Maximizing shareholder value is as outdated as Taylor's theory of scientific management. America becomes stronger if corporate leaders work together to help everyone prosper, not just the top 1%. Everyone wins.

In this article I argue that “civility” lies at the foundation of ethics. Ethics is relationship permeated and finds meaning in civil behavior by acknowledging the dignity and importance of others. Civility lifts personal narcissism from the boundary of the self outward to other human beings.

Examining The Pilgrims’ Experience: Communitas Along The Camino De Santiago, Snežana Brumec

International Journal of Religious Tourism and Pilgrimage

To what extent does the community formed among pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago correspond to Turner’s concept of communitas? How might pilgrimage with significant others differ from individual pilgrimages in the sense of community? This study attempts to answer these questions based on qualitative and quantitative content analysis of 32 travelogues written by pilgrims who completed the pilgrimage alone or with relatives or friends. The findings show that pilgrims develop an egalitarian and creative community that prevails the notion of a generic bond between people, an intense comradeship and generous common friendliness. In this paper, research findings are presented from a small, longitudinal study using qualitative data on the long-term impacts of a unique, semester-long, study abroad program at Franklin Pierce University. In this programme, students study the history and contemporary renaissance of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage and then walk the entire route in northern Spain as pilgrims. Alumni who participated in one of four trips conducted in the fall of 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017 were asked in 2022 to respond to five open-ended questions about how their semester abroad impacted their lives, to what degree they thought their study-abroad …

Family Pilgrimage On The Camino De Santiago In Spain: Typology And Impact, Piotr Roszak, Jesus Tanco

International Journal of Religious Tourism and Pilgrimage

This article presents an analysis of contemporary forms of family pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela and prospect for its development after the pandemic of 2021-2022. Based on information about family pilgrimages in Spain, we examine its therapeutic benefits, its challenges and difficulties, and its place within competing forms of pilgrimage. The ‘family modality’ extends to pilgrimage within any intentional family, such as one’s academic and professional companions, recovering addicts traveling for mutual support, like-minded religious confraternities sharing a communal experience of the journey, and pilgrims trekking on behalf of family members left behind as a manifestation of voluntary surrogate pilgrimage.

Because of many firms’ lack of collateral, banks have imposed loan limits as a form of risk-control regulations of bank financing. In response, loan insurance has emerged as a useful instrument to lift loan limits. To study the joint value of bank loans and loan insurance, this article investigates a supply chain composed of one supplier and one capital-constrained buyer who takes out a bank loan and potentially purchases loan insurance. The useful life and warranty periods for off-road equipment in California for engines rated at 37 kilowatts (kW) and greater have not been updated since the Tier 1 rule phased in from 1996 to 2000; for engines rated below 37 kW, not since the Tier 2 and Tier 3 rules phased in from 2000 to 2008. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) staff is seeking information regarding useful life and warranty to evaluate whether amendments to those requirements are necessary after two decades of technology advancement.
