Restrictive language policies and practices in schools have racialized the experiences of bilingual Latinx early preservice teachers (EPSTs), leading many to internalize the belief that their language and culture are not valued. These deficit-based messages often influence their personal development and emerging professional identities. Despite the volume of scholarship about this pattern, little research has explored how this internalization shapes EPSTs’ perspectives as they move from being multilingual students educated in English-only environments to future credential program students and bilingual teachers. This study investigates the vocabulary learning strategies (VLSs) of 126 Saudi military EFL cadets, an underexplored group in second language acquisition research. Using an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design, a questionnaire identified the most and least used strategies, followed by interviews with 10 participants for deeper insights. Findings show cadets frequently use bilingual dictionaries, vocabulary lists, and group work, while cognitive strategies like written repetition and note-taking are underutilized. No significant differences in VLS use were found between Level 1 and Level 2 cadets, suggesting stable strategy preferences. This study, conducted within a Philippine educational setting, assessed gender language sensitivity among education students. Completing two tests, the gender-neutral pronoun usage test and the gender-sensitive language test, 255 randomly selected first- and second-year students participated. Additional qualitative data was gathered through a focus group discussion. Statistical analysis using analysis of variance and Z-tests revealed no significant differences in the use of gender-neutral pronouns based on year level, program, gender identity, and preferred pronouns. This study explores the relationship between foreign language classroom enjoyment (FLE), foreign language classroom anxiety (FLA), teacher-related factors in online classroom environment. An online survey was conducted with 118 English as second language learners from junior high schools in China. The results indicate a moderate negative correlation between FLE and FLA. Overall, students in online classrooms reported higher levels of FLE compared to offline classrooms. Five teacher personality traits (e.g., teacher likability, humor, and friendliness) account for 60.4% of the variance in foreign language enjoyment, while they can only predict 12.9% of the changes in anxiety and 39.6% in motivation, …

We analyze four VoM-specific pedagogical materials (three textbooks and one mobile application) for their usefulness in supporting second language acquisition and the development of new thinking-for-speaking (TFS) patterns in beginner-level Russian language learners. Drawing upon the model of the L2 Motivational Self System (L2MSS), this explanatory mixed-method study examined STEM students’ future L2 selves as guiding their motivated experiences. It first proposed a validated structural equation model of 480 participants’ future L2 selves through a large-scale survey. The SEM model highlights the predictive power of attitudes, anxiety, family, and ethnocentrism towards Ideal and Ought-to L2 selves.
