JOHNSON CITY The Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy at East Tennessee State University has named Dr. Adam Welch the new associate dean for Academic Affairs and Assessment. Welch will also serve as an associate professor of pharmacy practice at ETSU.  

He joins ETSU after serving as acting assistant dean for Academic Affairs and Assessment for two years at Wilkes University, Nesbitt School of Pharmacy in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He served several other roles at Nesbitt School of Pharmacy as well during his 10-plus years there.

JOHNSON CITY A commencement ceremony took place Friday morning for the 78 students making up the Class of 2015 in the Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy at East Tennessee State University.   During his address, Dean Larry Calhoun congratulated the newly minted pharmacists and thanked each of them for choosing ETSU.   They could have gone anywhere in the United States to pharmacy school, but they chose ETSU, Calhoun said. This thesis analyzes the competition between hotels and Airbnb in San Francisco. Airbnb is an internet platform that allows hosts to rent shared space, private rooms or homes to tourists. This study identifies the affect Airbnb has on hotels, workers, renters, neighborhoods, and tax revenue.

Interviews and research was engaged with travel industry professionals. Hoteliers were found to be apathetic about the competition between hotels and Airbnb.

Airbnb can be a meaningful experience between hosts and tourists. Budget travelers might not travel if not for low Airbnb rates. Airbnb rooms supplement hotel inventory during extraordinary events.

Much controversy surrounds the theoretical link between corporate social responsibility (CSR) and financial performance. Many different empirical studies have reached conclusions that this link is either positive, neutral, negative, or non-existent. In this paper, a thorough literature review is conducted seeking an explanation for the contradiction and disagreement present in current literature on the subject. Six key factors causing this contradiction were highlighted and examined in the review. A comprehensive understanding of the contradiction in this field will help researchers avoid historic pitfalls in future research, and may eventually lead to a definitive understanding of the financial implications of CSR. …

This is a leadership study understood through board governance in nonprofit organizations. The study sought to discover if there were indicators of coercive institutional isomorphism occurring in human service nonprofit organizations in the United States. IRS 990 tax forms were compiled from 2008- 2012 to determine if there were increasing levels of reported governance practices. Methodology included factor analysis, comparison of means, trend analysis, and regression models. Results indicated that there is an overall trend of increasing reported practices of governance in human service nonprofit organizations. Board size is the most significant indicator associated with changes in reported governance practices. …

Many regulators favor mandatory audit firm rotation whereas audit firms are against such a policy. Regulators argue that mandatory firm rotation would improve audit quality while audit firms claim that audit quality increases with audit tenure. I analyzed the financial performance and stock performance of the largest four banks in the United States after the banking crisis of 2008. By using 2009, the year that recovery for the financial sector began, as a benchmark, I could determine the level of success each of the four banks reached in 2014 in relation to themselves and to one another. This paper replicates the paper named Human capital, capital structure, and employee pay: An empirical analysis written by Thomas J. Chemmanur, Yingmei Cheng, and Tianming Zhang in 2013. In this paper, I examine the effect of market leverage on labor expenses to prove the predictions of Titman (1984) and Berk, Stanton, and Zechner (2010). Through the OLS regression analysis, I find that market leverage has a significantly positive effect on total, cash, equity-based compensation of chief executive officers (CEOs). So an increase market leverage will always lead to an incremental labor cost, and in fact labor costs will limit the …
