This paper covers the viable options that the United Kingdom may take to avoid economic and political crisis as they exit the European Union. There are several benefits and detriments to the exit. Some benefits include economic and political freedom from a slowly degrading system and increased options for global expansion. Detriments include loss in Foreign Direct Investment and trade with their larger European Union partners. This case follows four American college students from a small, Liberal Arts institution during a semester-long, faculty-led study abroad trip to London, England. The case presents the experiences of these students as they integrate into London society. Mainly viewed through the lens of sport, the students encounter many differences to their preconceived notion of how sports work, providing an obvious platform for discussion and comparison of how sport is organized in different parts of the world. Referees are valuable contributors to the legitimacy of a sporting contest. Despite this, abuse in sport has become a growing concern and is regularly noted as an obstacle with which referees must contend. Continued abuses have been associated with referee discontinuation and have been noted as a detrimental influence in the recruitment and retention of referees. Sporting organizations, coaches, and players all feel the impact when there is an inadequate supply of referees. Coaches have been noted as a primary perpetrator of referee abuse; thus, in this study, the authors utilize a phenomenological approach to explore perceptions of referee abuse …

In this chapter the use of instant replay in the National Basketball Association (NBA) is described. After detailing the historical evolution of replay in the NBA, the chapter explores the impact of legal and illegal gambling on the expanded use of replay, followed by a section on media perceptions, an explanation of real or perceived bias amongst NBA referees, and concludes with a description of the NBA Replay Center. Conceptual replications offer robust tests of theory by subjecting the relational notions of a scientific model to evaluation using alternate instruments, treatments, and subject pools. This study performs a conceptual replication of Moody, Siponen, and Pahnila’s 2018 empirical analysis that integrated elements of eleven theoretical models to produce the unified model of information security policy compliance (UMISPC). This replication employed a substantially more parsimonious instrument, using modestly revised treatment scenarios targeted toward a U.S. audience of 218 IT professionals as opposed to the Finnish graduate students used in the original study. Christine Murdock, a standardized patient (SP) at ETSU Health, has had more medical maladies than can she can count over the past three decades – but she never gets sick of being “sick.” As an SP, Murdock’s job is to portray a realistic patient, their family member or others to recreate a scenario accurately and consistently for ETSU Health students and residents.

Empirical research studies that focus on the experiences of Latinas in executive leadership are limited. In its entirety, workforce research has overlooked how social and cultural experiences influence this group’s leadership development. This gap in research has failed to uplift the Latina executive voice and their achievements. Addressing this gap has the potential to influence distinctive workforce practices and future scholarship. Utilizing an asset-based perspective, this study presents counter narratives that intentionally focus on exploring Latina leaders’ voices. The importance of intersectional experience and social identities illustrate non-monolithic, yet aligned, experiences among study participants.

The objectives of this paper are to examine the relationship between corporate governance and financial constraints which play a substitution role in mitigating agency conflicts associated to corporate cash holdings of Thai listed company covering the period from 2008 to 2019. I use five firm specific characteristics of financial constraints i.e. annual payout ratio, firm size, leverage ratio, lifecycle ratio as well as collateral asset ratio and corporate governance score as proxies to determine the level of cash holdings. Insider Trading In Family Firms: Evidence From Thailand, Paweenon Pramukkiattiyos

This study examines the profitability of corporate insider trading in Thailand's stock market and whether the abnormal return depends on the company's characteristics and insider characteristics. The result shows that there is a significant abnormal return on corporate insider trading transactions. The difference in ownership structure is also important, with the results supporting that insider trading by family firms is more profitable than non-family firms. Moreover, the finding indicates that the trading of CEOs has more valuable information about the company's prospects than other insiders.

Commonly, daily prices limits are widely used for stabilizing stock markets and decrease volatility during overreaction period. However, regulators may not notice that instead of stopping panic sell or overbought, the daily price limits generate a magnet effect, which cause the price to accelerate to the price limits and increase the overall volatility. This research investigates the magnet effect of price limits using high frequency from the Stock Exchange of Thailand. ย่านตลาดเก่าชุมชนเยาวราชเป็นย่านการค้าย่านที่อยู่อาศัยที่สำคัญของชาวไทยเชื้อสายจีนที่สำคัญ ในปัจจุบันยังคงแสดงให้เห็นถึงวิถีชีวิตดั้งเดิมของชาวไทยเชื้อสายจีนในพื้นที่และเป็นย่านการค้ารูปแบบตลาดสดเพียงแห่งเดียวที่หลงเหลืออยู่ของย่านเยาราช เป็นผลมาจากการเปลี่ยนแปลงของยุคสมัยและพัฒนาการของเมืองที่เป็นปัจจัยส่งผลให้เกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงในย่านตลาดเก่าและส่งผลกระทบต่ออัตลักษณ์เชิงพื้นที่ย่านตลาดเก่าชุมชนเยาวราช การศึกษาครั้งนี้เพื่อ 1.) เพื่อศึกษาพัฒนาการการเปลี่ยนแปลงต่ออัตลักษณ์เชิงพื้นที่ของอาคารร้านค้าในย่านตลาดเก่าชุมชนเยาวราช 2.) เพื่อศึกษาผลกระทบของการเปลี่ยนแปลงต่ออัตลักษณ์เชิงพื้นที่ของอาคารร้านค้าในย่านตลาดเก่าชุมชนเยาวราช และ 3.) เพื่อศึกษาสาเหตุ ปัจจัย และลักษณะที่เป็นองค์ประกอบให้เกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงต่ออัตลักษณ์เชิงพื้นที่ของอาคารร้านค้าในย่านตลาดเก่าชุมชนเยาวราช การศึกษาครั้งนี้เป็นการวิจัยรูปแบบการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ ประกอบด้วยการดำเนินการสองส่วนคือ การวิจัยเอกสาร การศึกษาและรวบรวมข้อมูลภาคสนามในพื้นที่ย่านตลาดเก่าชุมชนเยาวราชโดยมีวิธีการดำเนินการคือการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกจากการสัมภาษณ์แบบทางการจากผู้ให้ข้อมูลสำคัญได้แก่ นักประวัติศาสตร์ท้องถิ่นในย่านเยาวราช ผู้อยู่อาศัยเจ้าของกิจการในย่านตลาดเก่าชุมชนเยาวราช ผู้ที่มีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องกับตลาดเก่าชุมชนเยาวราช รวมทั้งสิ้นจำนวน 15 คน และการสัมภาษณ์เบื้องต้นกับผู้มาเยือนย่านตลาดเก่าชุมชนเยาวราชจำนวน 20 คน ร่วมกับการใช้วิธีการสังเกตการณ์แบบไม่มีส่วน และการสร้างแผนที่เดินดิน ผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1.) ย่านตลาดเก่ามีการเปลี่ยนแปลงทางสังคมและวัฒนธรรมจากยุคสมัยที่เปลี่ยนแปลงไปอัตลักษณ์เชิงพื้นที่ของย่านตลาดเก่ายังคงเป็นย่านที่อยู่อาศัยและย่านการค้าของชาวไทยเชื้อสายจีนไม่เปลี่ยนแปลง 2.) มีการปรับเปลี่ยนไปของร้านค้าที่เข้ามาใหม่ในพื้นที่ตามความต้องการของผู้บริโภคที่เปลี่ยนไปจากการเปลี่ยนแปลงของเศรษฐกิจ 3.) การท่องเที่ยวที่เข้ามามีบทบาทในย่านเยาวราชส่งผลให้เกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงของร้านค้าภายในพื้นที่ตลาดเก่า 4.) อัตลักษณ์เชิงพื้นที่ของย่านตลาดเก่ายังคงดังเดิมเป็นย่านการค้าที่มีความสำคัญต่อชาวไทยเชื้อสายจีนไม่เปลี่ยนแปลงแสดงให้เห็นถึงวิถีชีวิตของชาวไทยเชื้อสายจีนในย่านตลาดเก่าหรือตลาดเล่งบ้วยเอี๊ยะชุมชนเยาวราชที่ยังคงดังเดิม แม้ว่าบริบททางสังคมในพื้นที่จะมีการปรับเปลี่ยนไปตามยุคสมัย

พื้นที่สาธารณะเป็นพื้นที่ที่มีความสำคัญและส่งผลต่อคุณภาพชีวิตที่ดีของคนในเมืองเป็นอย่างมาก แต่ทั้งนี้ปัญหาต่าง ๆ ของสวนสาธารณะที่เกิดขึ้น ส่วนหนึ่งเกิดจากปัญหาการบริหารจัดการพื้นที่สาธารณะที่ยังขาดกลไกของกระบวนการมีส่วนร่วมอย่างมีศักยภาพ งานวิจัยชิ้นนี้จึงมีวัตถุประสงค์ คือ 1) เพื่อศึกษาแนวทางการบริหารจัดการพื้นที่สาธารณะที่มุ่งเน้นกระบวนการมีส่วนร่วม 2) เพื่อศึกษาปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อกระบวนการมีส่วนร่วมในการบริหารจัดการพื้นที่สาธารณะในเมือง กรณีศึกษา สวนหลวงพระราม 8 เขตบางพลัด กรุงเทพมหานคร และ 3) เพื่อวิเคราะห์ช่องว่างระหว่างแนวทางการจัดการพื้นที่สาธารณะที่มีศักยภาพและพื้นที่สาธารณะกรณีศึกษา และเพื่อนำไปสู่การเสนอแนะแนวทางการพัฒนากระบวนการมีส่วนร่วมของประชาชนในการบริหารจัดการพื้นที่สาธารณะ โดยใช้ระเบียบวิธีการวิจัยเอกสารเพื่อสร้างตัวอย่างที่ดีในการบริหารจัดการพื้นที่สาธารณะอย่างมีส่วนร่วม โดยวิเคราะห์ผ่านแนวคิดการบริหารจัดการพื้นที่สาธารณะและทฤษฎีกระบวนการมีส่วนร่วม และวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพประกอบด้วย การสังเกตการณ์อย่างไม่มีส่วนร่วมในการใช้พื้นที่สวนสาธารณะพระราม 8 และการสัมภาษณ์ผู้ให้ข้อมูลสำคัญ ซึ่งใช้การสุ่มกลุ่มประชากรแบบเจาะจง ที่ทำกิจกรรมในสวนทั้งหมด 6 ประเภทๆละ 2 คน รวม 12 คน และสัมภาษณ์ผู้มีอำนาจหน้าที่โดยตรงในการบริหารจัดการพื้นที่สาธารณะ อีก 2 คน ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อกระบวนการมีสวนร่วมในสวนหลวงพระราม 8 ประกอบด้วยปัจจัยที่สำคัญ 3 ปัจจัย คือ 1) ปัจจัยด้านกายภาพ 2) ปัจจัยด้านการบริหารจัดการ และ 3) ปัจจัยด้านการมีส่วนร่วม ซึ่งเป็นปัจจัยทางกายภายที่ส่งเสริมกระบวนการมีส่วนร่วมในการบริหารจัดการพื้นที่สาธารณะได้ชัดเจนที่สุดเมื่อเทียบกับปัจจัยอื่น ๆ ดังนั้นการสร้างตัวอย่างการบริหารจัดการพื้นที่สาธารณะอย่างมีส่วนร่วมต้องมีขั้นตอนในการดำเนินการดังนี้ 1) การจัดหาพื้นที่สาธารณะอย่างมีส่วนร่วม 2) การออกแบบพื้นที่สาธารณะอย่างมีส่วนร่วม 3) การระดมทุนและจัดสร้างพื้นที่สาธารณะอย่างมีส่วนร่วม 4) การบริหารจัดการพื้นที่สาธารณะอย่างมีส่วนร่วม 5) การดูแลและฟื้นฟูพื้นที่สาธารณะอย่างมีส่วนร่วม ทั้งนี้ข้อเสนอแนะต่อแนวทางการพัฒนากระบวนการมีส่วนร่วมในการบริหารจัดการพื้นที่สาธารณะของประเทศไทย มีดังนี้ 1) ปรับแก้ข้อกฎหมายที่ว่าด้วยอำนาจหน้าที่ในการบริหารจัดการพื้นที่สาธารณะ 2) จัดตั้งองค์กรเอกชนเพื่อการพัฒนาพื้นที่สาธารณะและเป็นตัวแทนในการบริหารจัดการพื้นที่สาธารณะ 3) กำหนดต้นแบบการบริหารจัดการพื้นที่สาธารณะอย่างมีส่วนร่วมที่ระบุถึงขั้นตอนในการบริหารจัดการพื้นที่สาธารณะ 4) สร้างจิตสำนึกการเป็นเจ้าของพื้นที่สาธารณะเพื่อให้เกิดการตระหนักในการดูแลรักษาพื้นที่สาธารณะ และ 5) ผลักดันโครงการ Green Bangkok 2030 ให้สอดคล้องกับต้นแบบการบริหารจัดการพื้นที่สาธารณะอย่างมีส่วนร่วมและกำหนดเข้าสู่กรอบการออกกฎหมายอย่างเป็นรูปธรรม

• We examine whether and how board connections affect the firm's corporate social responsibilities (CSR).
• We find that board connectedness is positively associated with CSR performance.
• Our findings suggest firms that operate in a complex business environment or require more advising benefit more from a well-networked board.
