Q2S Enhancing Pedagogy

This is a two-day assignment which encourages students to consider a situation at work where employees are not following proper telephone answering etiquette. The situation could cause the business to lose customers. Therefore, students are instructed to research proper phone etiquette, then prepare an agenda to address the issues and provide guidelines on the correct way to answer phones.

On day two, students will hold a meeting discussing the points on their agenda, take notes, then write the minutes of the meeting.

JOHNSON CITY – (Feb. 27, 2020) A recent financial and compliance audit of East Tennessee State University conducted by the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury resulted in no findings or recommendations.  The report was released by the Division of State Audit Feb. 27.

Conducted annually, the audit was for the July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2019 fiscal year.  All state agencies are required to undergo this audit each year.

According to ETSU Chief Financial Officer Dr. B.J. King, the audit reviews the institution’s financial procedures and internal controls and evaluates how the university is complying with federal funding regulations. …

The following learning protocol provides an opportunity for professors to help students apply artificial intelligence and analytics in a pipeline management exercise. The activity allows advanced sales students to build a predictive sales model in Salesforce.com’s Einstein Analytics Platform. The following innovation walks the educator through the process of accessing the platform, building a model and analyzing outcomes. The exercise provides the opportunity to improve outcomes and act on sales opportunities, simulating the work environment. Small businesses are characterised by resources constraints; therefore, their managers need to know the exact nature of additional benefits, beyond knowledge and skill acquisition, that might accrue from employee participation in different types of learning activities. However, research that simultaneously examines the attitudinal and behavioural outcomes of opportunities to participate in formal and informal learning activities is sparse, especially in small businesses. The present study addresses this area of neglect by exploring associative relationships between opportunities for employees to participate in (1) formal learning activities and (2) informal learning activities and three important work-related outcomes: affective commitment, innovative behaviours, and …

With the social, cultural, and economic influence of video games, it is important to examine why they have become such popular forms of entertainment. Particularly, why certain franchises have continued to persist among the growing industry. Two notable franchises are Pac-Man and Street Fighter, which are also most frequently discussed in scholarly texts. I supplement a literature review with an analysis of marketing texts to illuminate a series of shared factors that help explain both games' popularity despite the apparent dissimilarities of their content. What is a situational judgment test?

A situational judgment test (SJT) is a hiring tool that measures knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics by assessing test takers’ responses to various job-related situations. They are typically administered in paper-and-pencil or video format, and each item presents a scenario and various potential responses or actions to take. Instructions tend to fall into one of two categories: knowledge or behavioral tendency. Knowledge instructions require judgments about the efficacy of different options, and they ask test takers to choose, for example, the best option, the best and worst option, or the most effective option. …

The Leading Economic Indicator – Nebraska (LEI-N) 1 fell by 0.15% during January of 2020. The modest decrease in the LEI-N, which is designed to predict economic activity six months into the future, followed a strong increase in December 2019. Taken together, the two monthly results indicate moderate economic growth in Nebraska through mid-2020. The leading indicator fell due to a drop in airline passenger enplanements and an increase in initial claims for unemployment insurance. JOHNSON CITY (Feb. 26, 2020) East Tennessee State University Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy has created an Early Admission Pathway for aspiring pharmacists to get started on their pharmacy career now.

High-achieving high school seniors choosing to attend ETSU or current ETSU freshmen can apply to be accepted directly into Gatton College of Pharmacy through the Early Admission Pathway, which provides students the opportunity to earn both a Bachelor of Science and a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) in six years.
