Wai Puna: An Indigenous Model Of Māori Water Safety And Health In Aotearoa, New Zealand, Chanel Phillips Ph.D.

International Journal of Aquatic Research and Education

Māori (the indigenous peoples of Aotearoa, New Zealand) are intimately connected to wai (i.e., water) yet are overrepresented in New Zealand’s drowning statistics each year. On average Māori account for 20-24% of all preventable and non-preventable drowning fatalities, despite comprising only 15 percent of New Zealand’s population. Drowning remains a significant issue posing a threat to whānau (i.e., families) through premature death being imminent and whakapapa (i.e., genealogy) being interrupted. Asperger’s syndrome is a high-functioning autism spectrum condition in which individuals tend to lack empathy with others, appear unengaged in discussions, speak in a monotone, limit eye contact, fail to connect names with faces, display some clumsiness, and maintain an excessive focus on favorite topics. They want connections with people but find it very difficult to attain them. Such characteristics are not amenable to great college instruction. JOHNSON CITY (April 27, 2020) – Dr. Scott Champney, professor emeritus in East Tennessee State University’s Quillen College of Medicine, has recently published a monograph describing 20 years of research on a novel antibiotic target.

Champney taught in ETSU’s Department of Biomedical Sciences for 31 years. His paper, “Antibiotics Targeting Bacterial Ribosomal Subunit Biogenesis,” was published as the lead article in the April 2020 issue of the Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy.

The paper details Champney’s research, which provides a better understanding of how antibiotics work. Over a period of two decades, seven ETSU Ph.D. students and two master’s students worked …

This area of research focuses on the link and association between body language and success in professional sales, and whether gestures have any relationship to perceptions of the salesperson’s ability and acumen. Utilizing collegiate sales competition videos taken from a university Sales program, the current study investigates and observes the link between nonverbal gestures, body language, and sales performance scores given by professional salespeople and sales recruiters. The results of this study hopes to suggest a relationship between gesture and perceptions of skillfulness within the sales interaction to the buyer or potential client. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to examine the role of personal and inter-firm networks and the elements that contribute to the formation and management of these networks for regional small businesses. Design/methodology/approach: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 20 small business owners located in regional areas. Findings: The findings highlight key characteristics of regional small business owners’ networks. Findings indicated that participants relied strongly on their personal networks for business purposes. This study shows that while personal networks adapted and changed into informal inter-firm networks, weak-tie relations within inter-firm networks were unlikely to develop …

This paper explores the relationship between economic growth and exchange rate regimes among countries of lower income, lower middle income, upper middle income, and high-income countries. Countries must make careful consideration when choosing an exchange rate regime because each regime can have different long-term effects. A cross section pooled time series data will be used for a sample of 42 countries over the period of 2000-2018.
