Flavor Fatigue: Cognitive Depletion Influences Consumer Enjoyment Of Complex Flavors, Diogo Hildebrand, Dan Rubin, Rhonda Hadi, Thomas Kramer

Surprisingly, little research has examined how consumer responses to specific flavor characteristics of food are formed or how they may fluctuate situationally. We address this lacuna in the literature on the hedonic appreciation of food by demonstrating that enjoyment along one important gustatory dimension, flavor complexity, varies with the degree to which consumers are mentally depleted. Specifically, showing that gustatory sensations are more cognitively demanding than previously thought, findings from three studies evince that cognitive depletion reduces consumer enjoyment of complex-flavored (but not simple-flavored) foods via a reduction in pleasure that otherwise can be derived from complex flavors. JOHNSON CITY – (Jan. 22, 2021) Sungwon Chae, a doctoral student in the Clemmer College at East Tennessee State University, is the recipient of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Minority Scholarship.

The $2,000 scholarship provided by the NSCA Foundation is designed to encourage minorities ages 17 and older to enter the field of strength and conditioning.

Chae is currently in his first year of pursuing a Ph.D. degree in sport physiology at ETSU where his research focus is on resistance training and athlete monitoring.  He is currently assisting the ETSU Weightlifting Team as a sport scientist.

JOHNSON CITY (Jan. 22, 2021) – The Tennessee Law Enforcement Accreditation (TLEA) Program has granted a third accreditation status to the Department of Public Safety at East Tennessee State University.

To achieve accreditation with TLEA, an agency voluntarily submits to a three-year process of enhancing its professionalism and effectiveness utilizing 160 law enforcement standards and participating in a thorough on-site assessment. The standards evaluate the agency’s policies, which address a variety of areas including organizational, operational and budget management practices. The Impact Of Tax Incentives On Foreign Direct Investment In Indonesia, Rotua Andriyati Siregar, Arianto Patunru

Journal of Accounting Auditing and Business

Using the data from twenty-two partner countries in 1999 to 2018, this paper presents the impact of tax incentives on foreign direct investment (FDI) in Indonesia. A fixed-effect and least square dummy variable analysis are used to determine the direction and significance of tax incentives in its correlation with FDI together with other FDI determinant. The main finding shows that as tax incentives increase, the FDI flow decrease significantly. However, corporate income tax (CIT) rate which also used as investment cost proxy shows that as it decreases the FDI flow will increase.

E-Paper service at the Library of the Indonesian House of Representatives (also known as the DPR RI library) provides information on Indonesia's latest issues for experts and parliament members. The service served its main purpose as information support for decision-making and the law and regulation-making processes. This study audited the information resources management on E-Paper services in the DPR RI library and identify problems that arise during the management process. We interviewed 20 informants comprising librarians, library managers, the head of the library, and service users (experts and parliament members). Purpose

This research compared the efficacy of process outcomes leveraging lean methods versus traditional pedagogy applied to dental education dependent on emerging technology. The pedagogical objective was to improve system efficiency without compromising traditional outcomes of effectiveness (quality).

Design/methodology/approach

The research team tested the efficacy of a lean A3 framework to identify, remove waste and redesign a technology-dependent simulation laboratory course (CAD/CAM/IR Restorative Dentistry). Students were also sensitized to time-in-chair to introduce a stronger patient focus. Changes In Communication Patterns When Implementing Lean, Jorge A. Colazo

Purpose: This paper explores the changes in communication patterns when companies implement Lean, and how those changes relate to Lean implementation success.

Design/methodology/approach: This is a multiple site case study involving four business units of a manufacturing company in South America, including two repeated measurement instances separated 24 months for approximately 600 direct workers and 65 supervisors. The analytical models include Social Network Analysis measures and Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) regression.

Research Question/Issue

From its inception in the late 1980s and early 1990s, founder-chief executive officer (CEO) research has garnered significant scholarly attention in the strategy and entrepreneurship disciplines, although other fields—such as economics, finance, and family business—have also generated substantial research insight on this topic. Despite this progress, a limited consensus exists on the influence of the founder CEO owing to the fragmented nature of extant research. In this review, we address this fragmentation by reviewing current literature, synthesizing the discipline-specific findings into an integrated framework, and highlighting promising directions for future founder-CEO research.

Trade secret management (TSM is an emerging field of research. Teaching trade secret management requires the inclusion of several challenging topics, such as how firms use secrets in open innovation and collaboration. The threshold concepts framework is an educational lens well suited for teaching subjects such as TSM that are transformative and troublesome. We identify four such areas in trade secret management and discuss how threshold concepts can be a useful framework for teaching.
