Measures of business success are likely to be financial, including profit, revenue, sales, market share, cost of production, quality of products, innovative product development. Ethical decisions are choices among right and wrong outcomes or processes. Assessment of ethical choices may or may not be easily quantified, including consideration of positive and negative consequences, moral principles, and fair process. The growth of mycorrhizal fungi into plant roots used to be viewed as a parasitic relationship between plants and fungi, where the fungal symbiont benefits and the plant host is harmed. Current research elucidates a mutualistic relationship. The mycorrhizae network assists the plants by increasing the capabilities for nutrient absorption in the soil. In exchange, the fungi receive carbon supply from the photosynthetic plants for growth. Our scientific understanding of other topics like species specificity, seed germination, and co-evolutionary influence of mycorrhizae and plants has also progressed. The Hall Family Collection can generally be described in two parts. The first part is Letters from the Attic, which are more than 5,000 documents that Andrena Hall Brunotte transcribed into 16 volumes. Brunotte’s transcription project established an “original order” to this part of the collection that the processing archivist does their best to adhere to. All of these materials were found in one large steamer trunk and organized by Brunotte in chronological order. Boxes 1 to 4 of the collection house the paper transcriptions (3,330 pages). Boxes 5 to 13 contain the documents, which are in chronological order. The …

Teacher professional development (PD) is seen as best ways to ensure teacher quality and guarantee positive student achievement outcomes; however, there is a lack of appropriate and effective PD. This quantitative study examined teachers’ preferences in PD content and delivery. Teachers from a K-12 public school district in Northwest Arkansas were invited to participate in a cross-sectional survey, and 292 teachers responded. The COVID-19 pandemic changed the way Arkansas public schools’ offered students an education. While moving through this pandemic, many Arkansas schools implemented optional methods of delivery for their students. Some schools tried to maintain face-to-face classes, while others offered completely online classes. Still, others offered a hybrid format where students attended some face-to-face classes and online classes. One Arkansas school district offered all three options. School districts need guidance as to which teaching methods worked well. The long-term effects of the educational impact of COVID-19 are not known at this time. JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (May 6, 2022) – The Class of 2022 at East Tennessee State University Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy received their doctoral hoods, officially becoming part of the college’s 13th graduating class.

The Hooding and Commencement ceremony was held on Friday, May 6, in the ETSU Martin Center for the Arts, where 73 student pharmacists earned their Doctor of Pharmacy. 

This ceremony was part of ETSU’s commencement weekend and was livestreamed for those unable to attend.

Dr. Debbie Byrd, dean of Gatton College of Pharmacy, thanked the graduating class for the mark they left on the college.

Despite the diverse benefits of smart home Internet of Things (IoT) services, the biggest obstacle to the actual usage of those services is concern about privacy. However, little research has investigated the impact of privacy control on users’ intention to use smart home services. Based on communication privacy management theory and privacy calculus theory, this study investigates how privacy control options affect users’ perceived benefits and costs and how those perceptions affect individuals’ intentions to use smart home services by conducting an experiment. Agricultural information can enhance smallholder farmers’ knowledge and decision-making ability, where the ubiquity of ICTs has resulted in an exponential increase of ICT based agricultural information services. However, there is still poor utilization of agricultural information. This study examines challenges that impede smallholder farmers from deriving value from agricultural information despite availability of information services. A mixed-method research approach was employed to gather data from 200 farmers using semi-structured interviews, Likert scale surveys and five focus group discussions. Consumer research finds that people derive greater enduring happiness from discretionary spending on experiential purchases (events that they personally encounter or live through) than material purchases (tangible objects that can be obtained and kept in their possession). While research in this area has contributed to our understanding of this “experiential advantage” by examining the underlying psychology of this phenomenon, individual differences in the experiential advantage have received less attention. The present investigation examines whether individual differences in savoring capacity affect the subjective well-being that consumers derive from experiential vs. material purchases.
