Addressing Plastic Pollution Through Green Consumption: Predicting Intentions To Use Menstrual Cups In The Philippines, Alvin Patrick M. Valentin, Ma. Regina Hechanova-Alampay

Quantitative Methods and Information Technology Faculty Publications

Plastic pollution is a global environmental crisis that poses a huge threat to the health of people and marine ecosystems worldwide. A significant source of plastic pollution is menstrual hygiene management, and an approach that can help address this crisis is the usage of washable and reusable menstrual cups. Using an extended theory of planned behavior model that includes self-identity and perceived quality, the study predicted intentions to use menstrual cups in the Philippines. Structural equation modeling results showed that perceived quality predicted attitudes towards menstrual cup usage. Journal of Applied Sport Management

Since 2020, a global pandemic has challenged the sports industry in unprecedented ways; the industry came to a standstill at one point, eventually returning with limited capacities and public health safety and security precautions. This exploratory study examined spectators' awareness and level of support for general safety and security measures and their willingness to embrace COVID-19-specific policies as they returned to live events in the U.S. in 2021. A total of 609 participants who attended a professional or collegiate sporting event within the previous three years completed the survey. Ace! How The Waste Management Phoenix Open Rose From The Ash Heap To Become A Sponsorship Exemplar, Lee P. Mcginnis, Keevan Statz

Journal of Applied Sport Management

Waste Management leverages the PGA TOUR’s so-called “People’s Open” in a manner that is unparalleled in the sport industry. The Waste Management Phoenix Open (WMPO) is not only a zero-waste event but also utilizes activation tactics that maximize this value proposition for consumers through sponsored activities that engage fans of all ages, backgrounds, and motivations. After an extensive analysis of the event and what makes it distinct, we propose a framework that we term ACE (Activation optimization, Cohesive value propositions, and Experientially focused programs), which can serve as a three-pronged test that event/property owners and sponsors alike can use to …

Industry Interactions And Their Influence On Dreams, Goals, Work Interests, And Vocational Attitude Of Sport Industry Job Seekers, Jiayao C. Qi, Samuel Y. Todd

Journal of Applied Sport Management

The sport industry is filled with passionate job seekers (e.g., Todd & Andrew, 2008) who often craft lofty future work desires and idyllic dreams (Odio et al., 2014). But little is known about how these are shaped over time. Previous studies noted how plans of sport job seekers often change after encountering realistic information about the actual work in sport (Koo et al., 2016; Todd & Magnusen, 2014). This urges a closer examination of the way in which sport job seekers interact with the industry in a continuous, iterative way, and how that impacts vocational attitude and imaginations. Findings …

An Analysis Of Perceptions Of The Relationship Between The Athletic Director And Athletics’ Direct Reports In Ncaa Division Ii, Kelly P. Elliott, Beth Johansen, Amanda M. Siegrist

Journal of Applied Sport Management

The roles and responsibilities of the individual designated as the athletics’ direct report (ADR) on NCAA Division II member institution campuses are not clearly defined. The absence of clear guidelines creates the opportunity for differences in the relationships between the athletic director (AD) and the designated ADR between peer institutions. The purpose of this study was to explore the current relationship between ADs and ADRs and analyze current practices. Results indicated positive relations between ADs and ADRs on campus and that communication is key to a successful relationship. Recommendations for practitioners are discussed.

The Drivers Of Successful Regional Expansion: Evidence From Multinational Corporations In Latin America During 1990–2005, Raju Parakkal, Joseph Johnson, Sherry Bartz-Marvez

College of Humanities and Sciences Faculty Papers

Multinational firms that enter regional country blocks, such as Latin America, often choose a beachhead country, i.e. an entry point, as a launchpad into other countries in the region. While some recent scholarship examines beachhead decisions, research that explicitly examines beach- head choice in a regional context and the subsequent speed of expansion and firm performance in the region is surprisingly absent in international business literature. To address this gap, we examine whether the beachhead choice affects the speed and performance of regional expan- sion of multinational firms. We also analyse whether a firm’s regional speed and performance are dependent …

Supply Chain Success Depends On Workers, Sarah Schiffling, Nikolaos Valantasis Kanellos Mar 2023

Supply Chain Success Depends On Workers, Sarah Schiffling, Nikolaos Valantasis Kanellos

Articles

2022 proved to be a difficult year for the people side of supply chains and the global transport networks that support them. Labour shortages and labour disputes put further pressure on systems that were already struggling with the fallout from the Covid-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine, and the impact of climate change. Amid high levels of inflation, workers around the world have been striking for better pay and conditions, in areas as different as healthcare, waste management, and teaching. For example, 2022 saw port related strikes quadrupling in comparison to the previous year.

Study On Visibility Promotion For Regional High-End Hotels Based On The Value Co-Creation Theory, Pingan Luo Mar 2023

Study On Visibility Promotion For Regional High-End Hotels Based On The Value Co-Creation Theory, Pingan Luo

Dissertations and Theses Collection (Open Access)

Regional high-end hotels play a great leading role in industry communication, tourism, and consumer culture in the area where they are located. However, regional high-end hotels rely on the area’s industry background and economic development for their survival and operations. Hence, their brand influence seldom spread outside the area. As a result, the limitations of brand awareness have been challenging the rapid development of regional high-end hotels. The existing research has not come to a clear theoretical response to this challenge. To enhance research in this field, this paper grounded on value co-creation theory posed one core question and three …

Katie Callerhorn, a current medical student at ETSU Quillen College of Medicine, was experiencing what she thought was an allergic …
