An Exploration Of Factors Impacting First-Generation College Athlete Retention At Small Colleges And Universities, Adam R. Cocco, Alan Grosbach
An Exploration Of Factors Impacting First-Generation College Athlete Retention At Small Colleges And Universities, Adam R. Cocco, Alan Grosbach
Journal of Issues in Intercollegiate Athletics
Retention is an increasing area of concern for higher education institutions as enrollments continue to decrease. This is especially germane for small colleges and universities given their lower enrollments and limited resources. First-generation students and college athletes are populations with enhanced susceptibility to attrition due to additional challenges and burdens placed upon them as they navigate the college environment. Therefore, there is a need to understand the factors influencing retention among those at the intersection of these student demographics. The purpose of this study is to examine the association of individual (gender, race, and academic performance) and athletic (financial aid, …

Structured interviews were conducted with 12 athletic department external operations staff from 12 non-FBS DI institutions, representing seven different conferences. Results showed that price is determined through either a bottom-up hierarchical model or a committee-based model. Patronage-Oriented objectives were shown to dominate the pricing strategy in non-FBS programs, …

Buying From A Competitor: A Model Of Knowledge Spillover And Innovation, Dominique Lauga, Matthew Selove, Mohammad Zia
Buying From A Competitor: A Model Of Knowledge Spillover And Innovation, Dominique Lauga, Matthew Selove, Mohammad Zia
Business Faculty Articles and Research
Many firms buy a production input from a competitor. However, managers often worry that this supply relationship may give their competitor valuable knowledge about new product innovations. We develop a two-period model in which a firm can buy an input from a competitor or a third party in each period. In order to innovate, the firm must invest in improving the input, which results in its supplier learning to produce a higher quality input. We show that buying from the competitor: (i) increases short-term profits by softening price competition and (ii) may reduce long-term profits by preventing investment in innovation. …

Benefit Realized In The Economy Depending On The Formation Of The Demand And Supply Curves, Shaqir Elezaj, Rame Elezaj
UBT International Conference
The benefit achieved in the economy when other expenses are neglected for the first time, essentially depends on the mutual position and the formation of the demand curve (D - demand curve) and the supply curve (S - supply curve). Such a thing is understandable, because the determination of the state of equilibrium (E), then of the production surplus, production shortage, consumer surplus, supplier surplus, tax policy depends on the mutual position of the mentioned curves D and S. as well as many other important quantities in economic analyses. Of course, such an analysis is also related to economic efficiency, …

This study examines how different factors, with a particular focus on pricing and advertising expenditure, affect the demand for frozen picas. Pica sales, expressed in units per week, are the dependent variable in this analysis; the independent variables are price (in euros) and advertisement (in euros). In order to support a multivariate regression analysis, data were gathered over a period of 15 weeks. The percentage of the overall variance in pica sales that can be attributed to the pricing and advertising variables taken together was evaluated using the coefficient of multiple determination (R²). This study's analysis of the overall impact …
