William J. Richardson’s, “Psychoanalytic Praxis and the Truth of Pain” critically reviews Lacan’s conception of science, truth, and language above all. For Lacan, speaking of the “subject of science,” it is as if the entire scientific enterprise – its history, its institutions and all the virulence of its burgeoning power – may be conceived as the function of a single hypostasized, egoless subject: the “correlate” of science as such, taken as a whole. Throughout his career, Djibril Diop Mambety infrequently associated with organizations set up by African film makers. He lived a life of dreams and invariably attempted to turn his dreams into film : the dream of a city (Dakar) at the crossroads of the history of a country (Contras'City, 1968), the dream of freedom (Badou Boy, 1970), the dream of belonging to a country free from the determinations of hegemonic discourses (Touki Bouki, 1973). In Hyenas (1992), Djibril Diop Mambety puts globalization on trial.

Une Poétique De L'Entre-Deux: Figures De L'Intermédiaire Dans L'Écriture D'Assia Djebar, Miléna Horvàth

The goal of the present study is to observe the narrator's intercultural situation in certain novels of Assia Djebar written since 1980 : L 'amour, la fantasia (1985), Loin de Medine (1991) et Vaste est la prison (1995). In those texts, Djebar's fiction intertextuality reveals the in-between situation of the female narrator. lntertextual methods, what we call « in-between writing », help the transition between the female voice, Islamic writing, texts on colonization and image taken by a camera.

Gabrielle Roy (1909-1983) is one of Canada's most important 20th century women writers of fiction. Born in Saint-Boniface, Manitoba, a French-speaking community across the Red River from Winnipeg, Gabrielle was the youngest child in a large family. In 1929, after two years of training at the Winnipeg Normal Institute, she began a teaching career in Manitoba. Eight years later, she traveled to Europe to study dramatic art. There she began to develop her talent as a writer and wrote her first published articles. The outbreak of World War II in 1939 hastened her return to Canada where she settled in …

Gender issues in African literature and cinema have always raised challenging questions. It seems that the real or supposed oppression of women is often Justified in biological rather than in social terms, which, in turn obfuscates the real issues. This essay addresses the problem of film reecritures, from a comparative perspective. In so doing we pay special attention to the status of the feminine. Our aim is to reconsider current trends and ideological changes in the transfer from literary to filmic text.

The study examines how Ousmane Sembene positions himself as a fiimmakerthrough his ideology. it begins with a summary of his trade union days on the docks of Marseille, and continues with his memberships in the CGT (Confederation generale des travailleurs), the French Communist Party, and other sister organisations. Further, the study provides a sketch of Sembene's ideal society and finally analyze the role he attributes to cinema in such a setting. The study concludes with a discovery ofthe main features of politically committed filmmaking for Ousmane Sembene.

The objectives of this study are (a) to analyse and categorise the errors made by Malay students of French when using the two French conversational past tenses: the imparfait and the posse compose; (b) to compare and contrast the French past tenses with the Malay expressions of past times; and (c) to suggest some pedagogical strategies. The subjects of this study comprise Malay undergraduates of BA English and BA Malay doing a French proficiency course at Universiti Putra Malaysia. Le Portrait Sociologique De La Femme Benjellounienne Dans Le Premier Amour Est Toujours Le Dernier, Ana Soler

An analysis of the female characters in this collection of short stories reveals two contradictory images of Woman: on the one hand, the discreet presence of Woman as an oppressed being, subjugated by Islamic dogma and, on the other, the much more salient emancipated woman who transgresses canonical principles. Hence, the appearance of two kinds of couples, both of which are shown to be the site of power struggles that ultimately veer towards a masters/ ave relationship. Pledged to defeat, love is thus presented as no more than a utopic quest.

This work narrates the childhood of a young Pied-Nair in colonial French Algeria, the first twelve years of his love for this colonized country. Yet these years were even more marked by the war which was to tear apart all the inhabitants, natives and colonizers alike, and lead the narrator and his family to exile. The text is therefore deeply structured by the two opposing poles of attachment and wrenching.
