The microelectronics industry continues to put a heavy focus on preventing electromigration (EM) failures at advanced node conductors. The continuous scaling coupled with higher operating current densities further accentuate the problem. Most of the electromigration testing in the industry is performed with DC currents to evaluate the electromigration reliability of metal interconnects. However, most of the real-world applications operate using a pulsed current rather than a constant direct current. The rapid industrialization of the world has resulted in severe environmental pollution, necessitating the development of new materials such as pollution remediation. Two-dimensional (2D) MXenes have emerged as a promising family of materials due to their unique physicochemical properties, making them ideal for environmental remediation. The article sheds light on the new opportunities of MXenes in the removal of organic and inorganic contaminants, including organic dyes, pharmaceuticals, heavy metals, radionuclides, and gas pollutants. Nanoparticles (NPs), specifically polymer-modified NPs, have illustrated unique therapeutic advantages compared to bulk materials. Cellax NPs have provided a promising approach to cancer therapy by improving drug delivery, targeting the tumor microenvironment, and potentially overcoming drug resistance, all while reducing overall toxicity compared to traditional taxane treatment. By the flash nanoprecipitation (FNP) method, docetaxel and cabazitaxel have been formulated with polyethylene glycol (PEG) modified-acetylated carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) polymer to increase biocompatibility, bioavailability, specific targeting, and modulate the tumor microenvironment. III-Nitride material system has been widely used in electronic, sensing, optoelectronic, and power device applications. Owing to the wide and tunable bandgap of this material system and the realization of relatively high conductivity p-type Mg-doped GaN films, considerable research over the past few decades has focused on applications based on wide bandgaps, such as blue and ultraviolet (UV) light-emitting diodes (LEDs), laser diodes, visible-blind and solar-blind photodetectors. This research contributes to the advancement of 1.2 kV 4H-Silicon Carbide (SiC) Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistors (MOSFETs) through the development and implementation of sophisticated three-dimensional Technology Computer-Aided Design (3D TCAD) methodologies. These advanced simulation techniques enable comprehensive evaluation of innovative unit cell architectures that remain inaccessible to conventional two-dimensional (2D) TCAD approaches. By leveraging these 3D simulation capabilities, this work facilitates significant improvements in both the performance and reliability of next-generation wide-bandgap power devices.

As flexible and wearable electronics play more and more important role in smart watches, smart glass and virtual reality, and the power supply to the wearable electronics have been revealed more attentions for long-term usage and continuous healthy monitoring. To overcome the challenge, flexible self-powered BTO-PVDF/PDMS piezoelectric-triboelectric electric hybrid generators (BPP-HNG) are developed to human gesture monitoring and human machine interaction (HMI) application without external power supply. BPP-HNG based on BTO-PVDF and PDMS films are prepared by sol-gel and spin-coating method. All-solid-state lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) using ceramic electrolytes are considered the ideal form of rechargeable batteries due to their high energy density and safety. However, in the pursuit of all-solid-state LIBs, the issue of lithium resource availability is selectively overlooked. Considering that the amount of lithium required for all-solid-state LIBs is not sustainable with current lithium resources, another system that also offers the dual advantages of high energy density and safety— all-solid-state sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) —holds significant sustainable advantages and is likely to be the strong contender in the competition for developing next-generation high-energy-density batteries. Inducing the classic strong metal-support interaction (SMSI) is an effective approach to enhance the performance of supported metal catalysts by encapsulating the metal nanoparticles (NPs) with supports. Conventional thermal reduction method for inducing SMSI processes is often accompanied by undesirable structural evolution of metal NPs. Water pollution affects life sustainability; hence, several efforts have been exerted to overcome this problem. For ex-ample, nanofiber membrane technology is introduced to retain solutes while allowing only water molecules to pass through the system. Therefore, this study aimed to maximize the technology for water filtration using the electrospin-ning method by combining Styrofoam waste-based polymer with activated carbon from coconut shell waste (ACCS). The nanofiber diameter produced ranged from 590 nm to 610 nm with porous characteristics and without beads. Silicon nanocrystals (SiNCs) show promising physiochemical properties that could be used in industrial applications. The production of SiNCs through solid-state synthesis is ideal due to relatively low cost of equipment and chemical reagents, as well as the ability to scale-up production. A widely known and commonly used precursor previously used in solid-state synthesis for SiNCs, hydrogen silsesquioxane (HSiO1.5), was discontinued in chemical manufacturing, which has led to researching alternative precursors (or starting materials). This dissertation demonstrates high-quality germanium quantum wells on a 200 mm silicon wafer platform, enabling novel device possibilities. Partnering with a commercial silicon-germanium epitaxy supplier, we obtained shallow, undoped germanium quantum wells with high-crystalline quality, confirmed through x-ray diffraction, secondary ion mass spectroscopy, high-resolution scanning transmission electron microscopy, and energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy. Hall bar devices fabricated on single quantum wells revealed that surface preparation can tune transport properties while maintaining peak mobilities around 105 cm2V−1s−1. This dissertation investigates the development and optimization of pathology-responsive polymersomes for simultaneous enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) in the treatment of GM1 gangliosidosis (GM1). While therapeutic strategies exist for similar, non-neuropathic lysosomal storage disorders, implementation towards GM1 faces significant challenges due to the blood-brain barrier.

Herein, we developed and characterized a range of low molecular weight hyaluronic acid-b-polylactic acid (HA-PLA) polymersomes (PSs) capable of encapsulating therapeutic enzymes in their hydrophilic core. Controlled introduction of defects in phosphorene using high-energy ion beams offers a promising route to design novel high-performance materials for energy technologies. However, this potential remains underexplored due to a lack of fundamental understanding of the atomic-scale mechanisms governing the production, accumulation, and temporal evolution of defects during ion irradiation. Flexible piezoelectric devices have garnered a lot of attention for their potential as energy harvesters and transducers. In this work, Neodymium (Nd) doped Zinc Oxide (ZnO) based flexible piezoelectric energy harvester and sensory device has been developed. Nd-doped ZnO has been synthesized using wet chemical co-precipitation and incorporated in Polyvinylidene Difluoride (PVDF) polymer matrix along with Multiwalled Carbon Nanotubes (MWCNT) to produce flexible piezoelectric films. Extensive research on collagen has spurred advancements in tissue engineering and biomaterial development, given collagen´s pivotal role in regulating various tissue structures across diverse organisms. This study delves into fabricating nanocomposites utilizing collagen, along with silver nanoparticles, chondroitin sulfate and pullulan, for potential applications in antibacterial medical devices, and cell regeneration. Collagen, abundant in the extracellular matrix, provides essential structural support, while silver nanoparticles and chondroitin confer antimicrobial properties, crucial for combating infections. Pullulan, a polysaccharide polymer, serves as a biocompatible carrier for silver nanoparticles whilst being the starting nanofiber forming material.
