Due to the lack of academic studies in the quality assessment of bioethics education, this dissertation aimed to propose a normative model, Quality in All Levels (QAL), to define and measure quality in bioethics education. The QAL model described quality in bioethics education as conformance to the goals and determined these goals as (1) increasing ethical knowledge, (2) improving ethical skills to strengthen ethical sensitivity, awareness, and judgment, (3) developing ethicalbehavior, and (4) promoting cultural competence. University campuses across the country have been fundamentally disrupted by COVID-19. At DePaul, courses moved to remote delivery through the end of Summer Quarter and almost all university operations are being conducted remotely. Students, parents, faculty and staff are eager for some certainty about what the future holds. Will in-person classes at DePaul resume in the fall? Will COVID-19 permanently alter the way the university operates? While many details still aren’t known, DePaul President A. There is a gap in our understanding of effective early reading instructional approaches, particularly regarding identifying which specific core systematic phonics reading programs provide longer-lasting impact on literacy achievement. The purpose of this causal comparative study was to examine the effects of two distinct pre-kindergarten phonics programs, a linguistic phonics program and a basal phonics program, on short and long-term literacy outcomes. The overarching question addressed in this study was whether the type of literacy instruction in pre-kindergarten predicts outcomes in kindergarten and grade 3 and to what extent, if any, these relationships are moderated by demographic variables. Research methods courses can provide essential opportunities for graduate students to develop themselves as researchers. This article offers insights into the application of creative pedagogy and praxis for a graduate-level qualitative research methods class. Students learned and applied the innovative research method—gender audit as process and method—to understand the gendered nature of University social media accounts. Applying principles of collaborative learning and hands-on practice, students gained confidence in themselves as researchers while examining a contemporary issue affecting higher education institutions.

Coaching is a strategy that can be used to provide on site, continual professional development in a specific area. Although it has been used in literacy for decades, it is new to the area of math. About eight years ago a school district, located in the foothills of western Maine, implemented a Tier-1, universal, school-wide positive behavior interventions and supports (SWPBIS) framework to provide school staff with positive behavior supports to achieve positive outcomes for all students. A key factor to the initial success of SWPBIS was staff buy-in. Research has shown that teacher and staff support is needed, not just for the implementation phase, but for the continued success of the framework. In the eight years since implementation, one of the district’s elementary schools has seen a staff and teacher turnover rate of over 50%. …

The purpose of this quasi-experimental study was to examine if teaching students their multiplication facts in a way that utilized their multiple intelligence strength would be a more effective way of teaching students their multiplication facts than having students learn their multiplication facts through rote memorization only. All four groups who received a teaching of multiplication facts intervention made gains in learning their multiplication facts. The three multiple intelligence groups did make more gains in learning more facts, than the one group who only learned their facts through rote memorization. With many studies in the literature review confirming the importance and effectiveness of authentic opportunities in math learning, the study looked at what holds educators back from these teaching practices.
