Mental health challenges for youth continue to be a growing concern. Youth- serving organizations have the potential to play a significant role in recognizing the signs and symptoms of mental health challenges in youth. The Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) training course is widely used to equip adults working with youth with skills to support mental health and de-escalate crisis situations. Cooperative Extension is a trusted organization in many local communities nationwide that delivers YMHFA. MSU Extension developed a virtual workshop on holiday floral design using cut ornamental evergreens in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, in order to maintain interest in a new, hybrid, certificate floral design program titled “Master Floral Designer,” initiated in 2017. Encouraged by high ratings, Extension presented the course in person in 2021. With continued high participant ratings and lower COVID transmission rates, Extension faculty and staff planned to offer the program in 2022 at six locations statewide to increase awareness and enrollment in the certificate program. When attending to community needs, collaboration across community organizations yields outcomes that are dynamic and sustaining. Given the interest in collaboration across organizations, and the desire to understand how these partnerships occur, this study sought to explore the collaborative efforts of Extension and public libraries in three states: Kentucky, North Carolina, and Vermont. Foundational information was gathered regarding programming within this partnership, alignment of efforts, and the experiences of partnering from the perspectives of both Extension and library staff, including successes and challenges. The COVID pandemic was a time of unprecedented need for self-directed learning due to a conflagration of factors. These included the rapid global spread of the virus, leading to over 1.8 million deaths worldwide in 2020 alone according to the World Health Organization. In addition, traditional authorities such as the World Health Organization and U.S. Centers for Disease Control, along with individual health practitioners and institutions, failed to calm the panic due to a lack of agreement about recommended protections and treatments.

This paper examines the evolving landscape of contemporary screen education, with a focus on the impact of progressive, constructivist and vocational pedagogies, arguing that their convergence with digital surveillance and AI risks undermining student agency and creative ownership. The authors draw on philosophical and educational perspectives to contrast and critique artistic, scientific, and vocational models of creativity and highlight the twenty-first century shift to technocratic imperatives within these pedagogies. The paper contends that techno-centric, market-driven learning environments may counter stated student-centred aims, and colonise students’ creative consciousness. Extension Education For Real Estate Professionals: Teaching Regulations And Sharing Resources That Protect Water Quality And Property Values, Linda Patterson, Shari Halik, Kristine F. Stepenuck

Real estate professionals can be an important source of information for home buyers and sellers about regulations and practices that protect water quality and properties from environmental damage. Lake Champlain Sea Grant (LCSG) Extension identified a deficit in real estate education covering these topics for real estate professionals. Accredited real estate workshops were initially developed by LCSG Extension and Vermont Agency of Natural Resources specialists. The program was later expanded to New York. Six-month follow-up surveys indicated that the majority of participants continued to use knowledge and tools gained in the workshops. Suggestions for replicating this program elsewhere are provided.

The purpose of this phenomenological study was to describe international medical graduates’ (IMGs) language and financial barriers at the adult education center. The theory guiding this study was the self-determination theory. Self-determination theory posits that individuals are successful when their psychological needs for autonomy, competence, and relatedness are satisfied. IMGs’ language and financial barriers may impact their abilities to fulfill these needs, hindering the development of professional competence, limiting decision-making autonomy, and affecting their abilities to develop a sense of relatedness as they navigate the medical field. This essay reflects on several occasions in which I was a facilitator introducing the music of the Grateful Dead to groups of senior citizens. Several themes emerge: First, there is the need to separate the facilitator’s feelings as a convinced Deadhead from the inclinations of older individuals who know little about the Grateful Dead. Second, an indirect approach that emphasizes lyrics and accessible songs seems to have the best impact, if the goal is to encourage individuals to want to learn more about, and listen to, the Grateful Dead’s music. This presentation will demonstrate how the digital bundle consisting of the APA Student Workbook and the APA Manual can teach students the principles of academic writing, citation practices, and ethical scholarship. The Al Harris Library received a donation of the archive of retired astronaut General Thomas P. Stafford. The continually growing collection includes over 200 boxes containing NASA reports, professional and personal pictures, videos, and more. Part of the collection is the approximately 700 books used for research by Stafford and his co-author Michael Cassutt to write the memoir We Have Capture: Tom Stafford and the Space Race (2002). Half of these books are a collection of Soviet-era Russia (USSR) space program books and periodicals written in Russian. Michael Cassutt has characterized the books as the most comprehensive collection about the …

This paper details successful efforts undertaken, at a Midwest (U.S.) university to address the significant lack of cannabis-centered academics within U.S. higher education. The foci of this paper for interdisciplinary cannabis curricula at the subject university is three-fold: student-centered, industry-centered, and community-centered.
