Classical Homeschooling Parents’ Motivations To Register In A High Degree In Classical Studies, Andrew De Souza Lima

PhD in Education

This quantitative study aimed to study Classical Conversations® parents’ motivations to register for a Master of Arts in Classical Studies. The study explored the self-determination theory, specifically the mini-theory of human needs. The researcher surveyed 49 participants about their motivation to get a higher degree in education to teach at home. The study also explored self-motivation perception. The findings were that parents have an excellent perception of their internal motivation. The most statistically significant elements of motivation were being a better teacher for their children and having a love for intellectual processes.

Stroke is one of the leading causes of severe disability and death in the United States. During the initial stage of recovery, clients receive stroke education to learn about what their new reality looks like after discharge; however, many clients feel that the education provided, although appreciated, was not inclusive to all individuals and only occurred one time. This article explores the impact of the "What's Up Down South" economic summit. Reviewing post-2023 summit changes reveals how adjustments address southern Utah's diverse business needs. Findings show greater attendee satisfaction, increased capacity, and demographic diversity, confirming the summit's role in economic development.

The purpose of this paper is to share a means of communicating why Peer-Led Team Learning (PLTL) has provided a sense of deep connection among practitioners, including Peer Leaders, faculty and administrators. To arrive at finding the qualitative language of emotions, three discussion sessions were facilitated over the course of three days during the 11th Annual Conference of the Peer-Led Team Learning International Society (June 2023, University of Houston Downtown). Facilitators’ techniques, prompts and the necessary pivots used to question assumptions are presented. Abstract

This study examined principals’ perceptions of the impact of faculty engagement, student resiliency, and student self-efficacy on the retention of first-year urban and rural African American college students. The aim of the study was to determine why students from this demographic leave their higher education institutions after the first year. In the United States, about 30% of students, regardless of race or ethnicity, drop out of college after the first year. Further, given 6 years, about 50% of students drop out before obtaining a degree. Researchers have identified African American students as having a high college dropout rate. This …

Following the lead of Parsloe & Smith (2022), this article explains and advocates possible modes of participation that consider the disabled, chronically ill, and systemically vulnerable students and faculty who are fighting to succeed in higher education. The way participation is measured in college classes is often ableist in nature; thus, it is important to unpack the ableist assumptions that undergird how we arrange and assess participation. This qualitative study aimed to address the gap in the research related to end-of-life counseling by exploring the experiences of counselors working with clients at end of life. While counseling literature and education are lacking regarding end of life, many counselors will work alongside clients approaching death. In this paper, we use a natural experiment to measure the impact of a transitory positive income shock on college education. On March 11, 2021, the American Rescue Plan Act was signed into law. This act made provisions for the third round of Economic Impact Payment for eligible US residents. Each person in an eligible family received up to $1,400. This stimulus payment was an exogenous positive income shock on US college students if they received the payment. The current study fills a gap in the current literature by measuring current CES personnel and stakeholders’ attitudes toward the use of Podcasts as a tool for information dissemination. By identifying perceived barriers to podcasts by CES personnel and how receptive CES stakeholders are to CES-based podcasts, this study helps to identify important barriers to the development of podcasts, as well as how such podcasts can be best positioned to fulfill the needs and expectations of CES stakeholders. The Women Owning Woodlands Network was launched in 2005 as a way to provide collaborative and hands-on peer learning education to women who felt uncomfortable participating in traditional Extension programs. Since its inception the program as grown to provide education and resources for over 300 women. We surveyed these women to identify if the program continues to meet their needs. It is evident that WOWNet has continued to be an important part of OSU FNR’s outreach education program and continues to meet the needs of a historically undeserved group of landowners in ways that traditional programming does not.

Introduction: Cocaine, a significant source of morbidity and mortality in the United States, is one of the most frequently consumed recreational substances worldwide. Long-term use of cocaine is known to cause irreversible cardiotoxic effects, such as structural damage to the heart, electrical irregularities, diastolic heart failure, and myocardial infarctions. Cocaine-induced cardiomyopathy is associated with concentric ventricular hypertrophy alongside decreased ventricular compliance. However, recent research has hypothesized that patients who already have symptomatic cardiovascular disease are at an increased risk of developing an impairment in systolic ventricular function following chronic cocaine use, which is hypothesized to be caused by either direct …
