Quantitative Analysis Of Icc Profile Quality For Scanners, Xiaoying Rong, Paul D. Fleming, Abhay Sharma

ICC profiling software is widely used in the graphic arts industry. The quality of a scanner profile created by profiling software using a single training target is discussed. A more stringent quantitative analysis of the profile quality is proposed. Different targets from different photo paper manufactures are used as the testing targets to compare the quality of the profiles. A grayscale was also used for testing the ability of profiling software to preserve gray balance. The results show that profiling software can generate apparently high quality profile for the training targets. However, the profile of one target assigned to the …

[Introduction]

Superhero comics have changed. They have passed through a Golden Age and Silver Age, they have been transformed, cancelled, revived, killed, deconstructed, reconstructed, revisited, etc. My aim is to account for part of these changes and show how superhero comics have been innovated. In order to track these changes I chose to compare different versions of a few DC Comics series, such as Doom Patrol, Swamp Thing, Shade, that had been cancelled and then revived and are known to have introduced relevant changes between the earliest and the subsequent versions.

The writing of graffiti is deemed an illegal activity in Thailand, which makes its prevalence on the Thai university campus an intriguing issue. This study was an investigation of important content for undergraduate graphic communications programs in four-year colleges and universities. The findings of this study can help educational professionals as they design curriculum, equip laboratories, and recruit faculty.

Subject categories and content items were initially identified by a review of literature. These content items were then further refined and rated on level of importance by a panel of experts. Modified subject categories and content items were then sent to the panel a second time for rating. Through this process, 15 subject categories and 68 content items were identified.

Social landscape photography focuses upon aspects of our everyday environment and follows broadly in the tradition of straight, documentary photography. Significant digital manipulation acceptable in fine art photography, advertising, and increasingly in editorial photography, is out of place here. The social landscape photograph attempts to capture and replicate the initial visual experience or insight of the photographer. Such manipulation would undermine, over time, the fundamental believability of the image. The purpose of this study was to examine the performance of high school students completing applied mathematics 1 and applied mathematics 2 courses based principally on the CORD Applied Mathematics curriculum in four Missouri school districts. Complete data sets were obtained from 254 students. A general linear model analysis of covariance procedure was used to determine if differences existed in mean scores among students in applied mathematics 1, applied mathematics 2, and a control group of algebra 1 students. A graphical experiment was designed using a microcomputer. This experiment presented a business scenario to test Air Force Institute of Technology AFIT Professional Continuing Education PCE students. This thesis investigated whether a difference in data display, modes or a difference in data trends affected mid-level Air Force managers trend impressions, risk assessments. and loan decisions. By presenting data in four different modes, and by three data trends, a 4 x 3 factorial design experiment was prepared 180 subjects were tested, 15 in each of the twelve treatment cells. This thesis investigated whether individuals interpreted iconic graphs differently than traditional graphs. A literature review revealed a lack of current research concerning iconic graphs. Using guidelines previously created for high-integrity graphics, a timed, pretest-posttest experiment was developed to compare the impressions rendered by both traditional and iconic graphs to determine whether men and women interpret the two types of graphs in the same way. This study analyzes the appearance of eighty visual religious symbols in the Improvement Era, Ensign, and New Era, published by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1952-1972. The study notes their frequency and distribution as well as noting their size, the medium used to render them and the correlation of their religious meanings to the articles they illustrate.

The findings of this study indicate that visual religious symbols are used and that many of them have a high degree of correlation to the articles they illustrate.

It is no great revelation that the Soviet government has long indulged in anti-American propanda, but the continuity, elaboratness and virulence of ths "crusade of hatred" demands further study. It is essential that such study be undertaken parallel with an appraisal of Soviet-American relations since 1917.

In 1903, Samuel Pennypacker, Governor of Pennsylvania, signed the Salus-Grady libel law, also known as the "Pennsylvania Anti-Cartoon law," showing his anger with cartoonist Charles Nelan who regularly depicted him as a bird parroting his cousin's rhetoric. There was wide outrage over the Salus-Grady law and it was never enforced and was rescinded in 1907 after Pennypacker's defeat.
