A calibration model of near-infrared spectroscopy for the determination of water and total sugar is established and optimized in order to realize the rapid detection of physical and chemical indexes of marzipan. The partial least square method is used to establish NIR calibration models for the determination of water and total sugar in marzipan. Then, the abnormal sample removal, spectral transformation, sample set partition and characteristic wavelength selection are used to optimize its performance. The microwave drying characteristics of arrowhead slices was researched, and the drying kinetics model was established on the basis of effects of thickness, lay density and microwave power on the microwave drying characteristics of arrowhead were studied. The results show that the microwave drying process of arrowhead slices is mainly characterized by accelerated drying and deceleration, but when the power density was low, the drying rate appeared a constant stage. The greater the thickness and density were, the smaller the change of drying rate it was. The slower the reduction of moisture content was, and the longer drying time it …

Based on the recent reports from domestic and foreign researches, this study elaberated plant food by-products processed by solid-state biotransformation for the enzyme production efficiency and its potential applications. In addition, this study also reviewed solid-state biotransformation on the influence of major biological compounds (e.g., phenolics, flavonoids, polysaccharides etc.) and bio-activities of plant food by-products, and prospected its direction for future development.

In order to investigate the effects of microfluidization in different pressure combined with pullulanase debranching treatment on the structural properties and starch composition of lotus seed starch-glycerin monostearin complex, the determination of amylose, complex index, crystal structure, microstructural morphology and starch composition were discussed and analyzed. The results showed that the appropriate microfluidization conditions were more conducive to exert the debranching of pullulanase and facilitate the formation of lotus seed starch-glycerin monostearin complex. 80 MPa of microfluidization condition contributed to the crystal structure of the starch complex developing in the direction of high-microcrystalline V6I-type, and the formation of …

Taking the mung bean sprouts after drying as raw materials, the changes in the extraction amount, antioxidant activity and physical properties of mung bean sprouts polyphenols after airflow ultrafine crushing treatment were compared. The results show that the best conditions for ultrafine pulverization of air flow were as followed: pressure 0.5 MPa and speed 5 000 r/min. Compared with conventional crushing, the extraction of mung bean sprouts polyphenols increased by 10.74%. In addition to the reduction of DPPH free radical scavenging ability, the removal ability of mung bean sprouts polyphenols to ABTS+ free radicals and hydroxyl free radicals increased …

In this paper, the total reducing power, O ·, ·OH and DPPH· scavenging capacity of the flavonoids from Artemisia argyi were studied by ultrasonic assisted extraction and macroporous resin purification. The changes of pH values, TBARS, TVB-N, redness value, hydrogen sulfide and other physical and chemical indexes of fresh grade breast and its effects on sensory quality were investigated .The results showed that the purified flavonoids from Artemisia argyi had a strong total reduction power and a good linear relationship, with the good scavenging ability for O ·, ·OH, and DPPH·, and the scavenging ability has a certain dose-effect relationship …

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the antimicrobial activity of Chrysanthemum buds aqueous extract (CBAE) on Escherichia coli, and discuss its application in meat products. The antimicrobial activity of CBAE against E. coli was evaluated by the determination of diameter of the inhibition zone (DIZ), minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC), and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC). The possible action mechanism was revealed by the effect of CBAE on the growth curve, and the changes in intracellular ATP concentration, cell membrane potential, and cell morphology. Using Box-Behnken central combination test design and single factor test were used to optimize the fermentation process of cordyceps polysaccharide, water extraction and alcohol precipitation process and deproteinization process. The results showed that the optimum fermentation conditions of Cordyceps tenuipes were glucose 33.3 g/L, peptone 29.2 g/L, inoculation amount 3.9%. The optimum extraction conditions of Exopolysaccharides were concentration, 3 times ethanol, pH 6.0 and precipitation for 24 h. The optimum extraction conditions were 1∶40 (g/mL), extraction time 90 min, extraction times 2 times, and extraction temperature 80 ℃. To explore the effects of the roasting process on the quality of green tea used as raw materials in the industrial production of green tea beverages and to optimize the roasting process, steamed green tea was roasted using a roaster and an oven, respectively. In order to evaluate the effect of novel cryoprotectants composed of pectin, collagen peptide and trehalose on the quality of quick-frozen pumpkin puree and relative mechanism, the stability of the pumpkin puree was characterized by the water separation proportion, average particle size and Zeta potential value, and the product quality was evaluated by texture properties, color and total soluble solid content. Combined BRAF + MEK inhibition is FDA approved for BRAF V600E-mutant solid tumors except for colorectal cancer. However, beyond MAPK mediated resistance several other mechanisms of resistance such as activation of CRAF, ARAF, MET, P13K/AKT/mTOR pathway exist among other complex pathways. In the VEM-PLUS study, we performed a pooled analysis of four phase one studies evaluating the safety and efficacy of vemurafenib monotherapy and vemurafenib combined with targeted therapies (sorafenib, crizotinib, or everolimus) or carboplatin plus paclitaxel in advanced solid tumors harboring BRAF V600 mutations. New varieties of Lolium perenne, bred for high sugar content, can contain up to 30% of water soluble carbohydrates (WSC). Only a fraction of such high contents are metabolised during a normal fermentation and the high residual sugar content (RSC) of these silages can improve the efficiency of use of nitrogen by ruminants. However, these RSC at opening for feed-out could be preferentially metabolised relative to fermentation products by all aerobically growing fungi and bacteria present on the forage. Effects of reduced silage chop length on silage intake and milk production by dairy cows have been variable. Chopping of grass at harvest generally improves silage fermentation quality and consequently intake. The objective of this study was to assess the effect of chopping flail harvested silage ensiled with acid or biological additive prior to feeding on intake, milk yield and milk composition in dairy cows.

Some dairy producers in the north-eastern USA adopted narrow row (0.38 m) maize forage production in the mid-1990s because of its 5% dry matter (DM) yield advantage (Cox et al., 1998). These dairy producers, however, continued to plant forage maize at high plant densities (125,000 plants/ha) under high N fertility (225 kg N/ha), despite research that indicated that forage maize had optimum DM yields and forage quality when planted at the recommended 100,000 plants/ha under 175 kg/ha of N fertility (Cox & Cherney, 2001). Grass is the predominant forage ensiled in Ireland. However, the relatively modest yields achieved in a single harvest allied to variability in digestibility and ensilability (and thus in intake and animal performance response) and the likelihood of effluent production create disadvantages for grass silage compared to the potential of some alternative forage crops. Israel is a subtropical country in which the rainy season is in winter, with frequent droughts. Wheat is the major winter forage crop in Israel, along with legumes as rotation crops. Alternative forage crops are sought that would be suitable for semi-arid areas. Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius) is usually grown as a source for oil and pigments but spineless cultivars could be used as fodder. Leshem et al. Maize silage harvested at dough stage contains less fibre structure than grass silage. Due to higher proportions of maize silage in dairy rations and due to the fact that with longer chopping length of maize silage the contribution of fibre structure increases. The objective of this study was to assess the effect of two chopping lengths in the silage on animal performance with respect to feed intake, milk yields and ingredients as well as physiological effects of digestion.

An increasing use of whole-crop cereals, as supplementary feed, has increased interest in development of efficient ways of preserving these forages to achieve a high hygienic quality. It is known that ensiling of whole-cereals often results in silages with high concentrations of butyric acid (Weissbach & Haacker, 1988). Furthermore, problems with poor aerobic stability still persist despite the use of lactic acid bacteria (Filya et al., 2000). Therefore, the objective of this study was to examine the effect of different types of additive mixtures on the fermentation process and aerobic stability of precision chopped and baled silages.
