Publications and Research
The CUNY Games Conference combines workshops, idea exchanges, interactive participant presentations, playtesting, and playing tabletop games into a one-day online event to promote and discuss game-based learning. The conference focuses on creative pedagogy, such as playful learning activities or games, that teachers can use in the classroom every day. The conference is online and features interactive presentations by attendees, informal idea exchange sessions, and workshops by the conference organizers.

Electro Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (Etms) Effects On Pharmacoresistent Sleep Disorders Using A Quantitative Electroencephalogram (Qeeg), Sarah Diane Dean

The following quantitative correlational study investigated the effects of eTMS on individuals with pharmacoresistant sleep disorders using a qEEG. This research measures the dimensions of anxiety, depression and quality of life (QoL) as it relates to untreated secondary diagnosis. Additionally, this research examines the activity level of the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex in relation to eTMS treatments. It was found that correlation with anxiety (rs = -.466, p < .001), depression (rs = -0.556, p < 0.001), quality of life (rs = -.436, p < .001), and sleep disturbances (rs = -0.452, p < 0.001), have a statistically significant negative correlation with dlPFC activity level. Finally, it was found that eTMS does have a statistically significant relationship with sleep disturbances as well as anxiety, depression and general quality of life (U (195) = 4647, p = .971). This is important to the field of neuroscience as it provided a more precise form of individualized neuromodulation through the use of a uncommon type of transcranial magnetic stimulation.

Disturbances from insect pests threaten ecologically and economically important goods and services supplied by forests, including wood production and carbon sequestration. We highlight the factors that influence these services’ resistance, a term quantifying the initial response to disturbance. Insects inflict damage through a range of mechanisms, prompting distinct plant physiological responses that scale to influence ecosystem processes and, with time, goods and services. The degree and timing of tree mortality and defoliation affect the amount of residual vegetation available to support compensatory wood production and influence carbon sequestration by changing rates of detritus-fueled decomposition. Heart failure and ischemic heart disease represent the most common causes of death among cancer survivors. Objectives: Severe and prolonged neutropenia is associated with poor outcomes of invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (IPA) in leukemia patients. Given the high frequency of IPA in patients with relapsed/refractory leukemia, we studied the association of peripheral blood blast burden (blastemia), IPA outcomes, and antifungal immune failure, even without neutropenia.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed adult patients with acute leukemia (AL) or myelodysplastic syndrome and culture-positive proven/probable IPA (2011-2022). Blast and neutropenia indices were calculated and incorporated into multi-variable prognostic models. The impact of blasts on immune cell-mediated fungal clearance was studied in vitro.

The nucleolus is a membraneless organelle and an excellent stress sensor. Any changes in its architecture or composition lead to nucleolar stress, resulting in cell cycle arrest and interruption of ribosomal activity, critical factors in aging and cancer. In this study, we identified and described the pivotal role of the RNA-binding protein HNRNPK in ribosome and nucleolar dynamics. We developed an in vitro model of endogenous HNRNPK overexpression and an in vivo mouse model of ubiquitous HNRNPK overexpression. Context.—: Following the validation of a multicolor flow cytometry (MFC) assay for measurable residual disease (MRD) in acute myeloid leukemia (AML), this study examines its clinical applicability.
Objective.—: To evaluate the practicality and performance of MFC-based MRD detection in AML.
Design.—: Prospectively assessed AML MRD MFC in unselected AML patients achieving morphologic remission with follow-up studies, molecular genetics, and survival data.

Neuroscience-based educational interventions play a role in the management of Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD), including the regulation of ADHD-correlated depression and anxiety. Existing research shows that elevated rates of depression correspond to anxiety within the ADHD community; approximately 8.83% of the global population. Social ostracization and isolation are established contributors to depression and anxiety which are commonly comorbid with ADHD. Background
Vitamin D3 is essential for calcium metabolism and exerts pleiotropic effects, including neuroprotective activities in cognition. Its insufficiency has been linked to dementia, Alzheimer's disease, and cognitive impairments. The association between vitamin D3 and particular cognitive functions, including memory recall and word intrusion, remains imprecise, particularly among diverse ethnic and socioeconomic groups.
Objective
To examine the relationship between vitamin D3 levels with memory recall and word intrusion in individuals aged 60 and above, emphasizing demographic differences.

Background: C. sappan heartwood extract is a good antioxidant potential natural compound against oxidative stress. A few data have been reported with those of value using cell base assay, especially in normal human lung fibroblast cells.
Objective: The heartwood extracts of C. sappan were obtained with different ethanol concentrations and investigated on the antioxidant capacity on human lung fibroblast MRC-5.

[Objective ] This study aims to analyze the characteristics of volatile aroma components and key aroma components of black tea samples from different tea varieties in Guangxi.[Method ] The aroma components of 12 black tea samples from Guangxi were identified by sensory quality evaluation,headspace solid-phase microextraction-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS ),hierarchical cluster analysis,and orthogonal partial least squares-discrimination analysis (OPLS-DA ).[Result ] The black tea samples from different tea varieties showed different aroma characteristics and mainly presented a floral fruity aroma or a sweet aroma.The black tea from ‘Wuniuzao ’ demonstrated the highest comprehensive score (91.20),being a representative of black tea with …

[Objective ] This study aims to prepare γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA )-enriched milk fermented with lactic acid bacteria and evaluate its anti-exercise fatigue effect.[Method ] High GABA-producing lactic acid bacteria were selected and used to ferment milk with a commercial starter culture.A mouse model of exercise fatigue was established by four weeks of exhaustive swimming training.After four weeks,the exhaustive swimming time,serum biochemical indicators,antioxidant indicators,and energy storage substance levels were measured and analyzed.[Result ] Lactobacillus plantarum (L.plantarum ) LP- 5 was selected as the strain for fermentation,and its GABA yield reached (1.340±0.003) g/L.The fermented milk showed the titratable acidity of (46.29±2.01) ºT,the …

[Objective ] This study aims to investigate the effects of steaming-drying cycles on the quality changes of Polygonati rhizoma and optimize the processing technology to enhance its application value.[Method ] Slices of Polygonati rhizoma processed by 0~5 steaming-drying cycles were prepared.The drying rate and drying kinetics during the drying stage after each cycle were analyzed,and a drying model was fitted.Changes in color difference,appearance,hardness,and mass fractions of polysaccharides,reducing sugars,polyphenols,flavonoids,saponins,and calcium oxalate raphides were measured.[Result ] The number of steaming-drying cycles significantly affected the quality of Polygonati rhizoma.The drying rate decreased as the drying time increased,conforming to the Modified Page model,while the …

[Objective ] A fluorescent immunochromatographic assay was established based on vitamin B 1 monoclonal antibody to measure the vitamin B 1 in infant formula milk powder.[Method ] The performance of vitamin B 1 monoclonal antibody was evaluated.On this basis,a highly sensitive fluorescent immunochromatographic test strip was developed.[Result ] The vitamin B 1 monoclonal antibody showed high sensitivity,affinity,and specificity.The fluorescent immunochromatographic test strip showed a visual limit of detection (vLOD ) of 10 μg/kg,a cut-off value of 200 μg/kg,and a calculated limit of detection (cLOD ) of 2.056 μg/kg.In addition,the recovery rate of this method was 97.3%~115.4%.The test results of the …
