This paper proposes 24 axioms that form a basis for understanding and analyzing sociotechnical and totally automated work systems in organizational settings. The introduction identifies reasons for trying to develop axioms of that type. Two background sections compare axioms with other types of “knowledge objects”, illustrate the minimal presence of axioms in the IS discipline, define the domain of relevance for the axioms discussed here, and explain the process of developing those axioms. Purpose: The goal of this study was to identify the performance determinants of private rooms offered via peer-to-peer accommodation (P2PA) platforms.

Design/methodology/approach: Based on property level data of Airbnb, the applications of machine learning clustering and artificial neural networks methods were proposed to identify the performance determinants of private room performance defined as yearly revenue.

Findings: The results indicate that the most important revenue determinants were maximum number of guests, number of photos, number of bathrooms, location, and cancellation policy, as well as high availability of the property throughout the year. The highest revenues were achieved by 2–3 …

However, the activity has raised concerns for its perceived effects on the environment. This paper synthesizes and reviews secondary literature on the environmental effects of horseback riding, and identifies four broad themes: disturbance to wildlife, degradation of water quality, loss of vegetation, and soil erosion. Consumers spend billions of dollars per year on homeopathic products. But there is powerful evidence that these products don’t work, i.e., they are not medically effective. Should homeopathic products be for sale? I give reason for thinking that the answer is ‘no.’ It has been suggested that the sale of homeopathic products involves deception. This might be so in some cases, but the problem is simpler: it is that these products don’t do what people buy them to do. Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) has played a crucial role in driving economic growth across Latin America, yet the determinants influencing FDI inflows in the region remain contested. This research examines the effect of macroeconomic and institutional individual factors on FDI, employing a Dynamic Panel Vector Autoregressive (PVAR) model with the Generalized Method of Moments (GMM). Our findings reveal significant temporal variations in the determinants of FDI over time. Political stability was a decisive factor during 2002–2008, reflecting investor preference for predictable institutional environments amid favorable economic conditions. The purpose of the study was to evaluate record keeping and related skills training for small farm producers in the Alabama Black Belt. The specific objectives were to (1) examine socioeconomic characteristics, and (2) describe and assess the extent to which participants view training and how they have used the knowledge they acquired by participating in the sessions. The data used for the study were derived from a group of small farm producers in the Alabama Black Belt using convenience sampling. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Spearman’s correlation analysis.

It is common for inpatient medical floor RNs to care for an average of 5-7 patients per assignment plus the role of charge RN or preceptor, which borders the legal limit in the state of Connecticut. This thesis investigated the relationship between workplace incivility and behavioral disengagement, using emotional appraisal as a mediating factor. Data was collected through a survey method via Prolific. Using the transactional model of stress, I hypothesized that experienced incivility will be positively associated with behavioral disengagement as a coping mechanism. Additionally, I hypothesized that emotional appraisal would mediate the relationship between experienced workplace incivility and behavioral disengagement. By using a mediation model to test these hypotheses I aim to increase the understanding of workplace incivility and its negative impacts on individuals and the workplace as a whole. We use earnings call transcripts to examine whether managers strategically change their disclosure behaviors before an actual share repurchase. Our findings suggest that managers use tone management to strategically portray a more negative outlook for the firm in the earnings call before an actual repurchase. In addition, we find that managers of repurchasing firms “cast” the call with more unfavorable analysts even when more favorable analysts are available. These disclosure strategies aim to influence the information flows to the market and allow repurchasing firms to repurchase their shares at a discounted price.
