In this dissertation, I leverage artificial intelligence (AI) for making effective marketing decisions, specifically on how to measure the causal effects of targeting promotions and detecting suspicious retail buyers of opioids. In the first chapter, we propose a novel approach in measuring the true causal effects of targeting promotions. Targeting promotions on online platforms are often determined by AI algorithms, which utilize extensive customer and seller information to generate various algorithmic scores for targeting. Effective targeting, however, will lead to selection bias when evaluating the causal effects of promotions. we analyzed 2,294 promotion experiments on a major online retail platform …

Purpose:
The purpose of this study is to provide new insights into the differences between the attractiveness drivers in different types of public procurement (i.e. efficient, technological, adapted and experimental). Design/methodology/approach This study used a qualitative multiple-case study design. The study examined eight public procurement cases by interviewing the representatives of 18 suppliers and, through cross-case analysis, formulated a framework of customer attractiveness drivers for different types of public procurement. Findings This study reveals differences in customer attractiveness drivers between efficient, technological, adapted and experimental public procurement. In the evolving world of executive protection (EP), the days of focusing solely on physical security are over. Today’s EP professionals are responsible for an ever-expanding array of duties, from travel logistics and site assessments to digital threat monitoring and cyber hygiene education. Purpose: This paper examines the integration of AI-enhanced coaching systems into traditional organizational development practices and develops a comprehensive theoretical framework to understand these complex interactions. Design/methodology/approach: A narrative literature review synthesizes theoretical perspectives and empirical studies at the intersection of digital transformation and coaching practices. This review systematically examines multiple theoretical frameworks related to human–technology collaboration in organizational contexts. Findings: The research establishes a theoretical framework comprising four interconnected domains: cognitive amplification, collaborative learning, ethical governance and adaptive evolution. Three hypothetical case studies demonstrate the practical application of this framework across diverse organizational settings, revealing both challenges and opportunities …
