Individuals in any organization will often find themselves working in groups, either by force, necessity, or through volunteering. Group work is something everyone must do, and learning how to make the best of every situation and group opportunity can be the difference between a positive or negative experience. This study explores the communication within decision-making groups where a poor outcome or decision occurred. By examining the concept of groupthink, we can enhance our understanding of the factors influencing the group decision-making process and how communication can benefit organizations. The DJIA (Dow Jones Industrial Average) is an index of 30 companies that are picked to represent the broad economy. As this Fox Business article notes, Apple is replacing AT&T in the index. Given that Apple is the largest company by market cap, why is Apple just now entering the index? The answer is that the Dow is price-weighted, so Apple's recent 4:1 split brought the price low enough, such that it would not unduly influence the overall index movement.

It is also a critical time for learning essential life skills. However, we often don't recognize the importance of teaching leadership to our children. We simply rely on someone else to teach these skills. There is a vicious cycle of drug addiction and displacement for many undereducated, and low skilled African-American men, that leads to a life of frustration, defeat and despair. These groups of African-American males for various reasons, culturally as well as sociologically, have not participated in what is considered mainstream American society but rather have created a social order of their own. Evidences of this alternative order are demonstrated in street gangs, prison life and other socially unacceptable lifestyles. This paper presents the findings of a qualitative research study of the extent to which horizontal and vertical communication affect the three levels of employee identity – personal\, group or organizational – and its affect on employee attitudes engaged in merger or acquisition integration. A conceptual framework was proposed and conjectures tested via 19\, 60-90 minute interviews with professional level employees about their experiences in a positive and/or negative merger or acquisition business consolidation. The professionals were from a portfolio of industries and including banking\, telecommunications\, health care\, insurance\, manufacturing and information systems. Corporate funding for executive education (EE) programs perceived as too academic and not sufficiently relevant has waned in recent years. Previous investigations conducted at the macro level point to a disconnect between science and practice in business schools\, but no micro level studies have explored how faculty and managers of EE programs experience and cope with conflicting orientations that might influence the design and delivery of EE programs. Irrespective of EE program ranking\, our findings reveal enduring tensions resulting from structural and social differences between the two. Honors Scholars & Undergraduate Research Poster Symposium Programs

The goal of my research is to analyze the students in the Andrews University School of Business Administration (SBA) to determine which factors are most closely correlated with satisfaction and perceived quality. I will study satisfaction as a dependent variable measured in relation to different service factors provided by the SBA, including advising, teaching quality and religion and faith components. Using a survey tool I created based on the Student Satisfaction Inventory™, the Undergraduate Business Exit Assessment, and the AU Senior Survey and Course Survey, I will evaluate the data by combining step-wise statistical analysis and weighted gap score analysis.

Three Huntsman School of Business student teams have qualified for the 2015 AIS Student Chapter National Competition in Alabama this spring. Competing against students from nearly 30 universities, Huntsman students have a track record of winning having taken home first and second prizes last year. In addition, USU is the only university to send three teams to the finals this year.

To help facilitate the development of a theoretically rigorous and practically useful theory of customer value propositions (CVP), as called for repeatedly by the extant literature, this paper establishes a game-theoretic theorem regarding the dynamics of market competition and potential market entry. On top of this result and by employing logical rigor and analytical reasoning, eight generally true facts are developed without suffering from the constraints of data- and anecdote- based approaches, as widely used in the literature.
