Patient and caregiver engagement is a paramount element to ensure the voice of lived experience is integrated and prioritized in research. This article emphasises the transformative potential of compassionate healthcare communication, particularly in the context of pregnancy loss. This personal narrative illustrates how varying communication approaches can significantly alter patient experiences, transforming anxiety-laden medical encounters into empowering partnerships with healthcare providers. A ten-month journey through pregnancy after a devastating miscarriage revealed the profound impact of communication quality on both clinical outcomes and emotional healing. The narrative contrasts three distinct communication environments: dismissive administrative systems that induce unnecessary stress, insensitive support staff during vulnerable moments, and a physician whose empathetic approach fundamentally transforms the entire pregnancy experience. Stories are fundamental to how we understand individual beliefs and experiences, as well as collective mindsets and institutional practices. Volunteered narratives are abundant, especially on the interweb. We in the health experiences research community, however, are challenged to develop effective, equitable approaches to moving beyond surveys by hearing and responding to not just dominant voices, but also those whom research has historically ignored, silenced, or objectified. Spirituality And Perceived Insider Status: A Study Of Organizational Commitment Of African American Female Leaders In Fortune 1000 Companies, Toni Y. Stubbs

This quantitative study examined the relationships among spirituality, perceived insider status, and organizational commitment among African American female leaders within Fortune 1000 companies. Using a cross-sectional design, the research gathered data from 119 participants through online surveys that included the Spiritual Well-Being Scale (SWBS), the Perceived Insider Status Scale (PIS), and the Organizational Commitment Questionnaire (OCQ). Analyses included Pearson correlations and mediation modeling to address the research questions. The results revealed a strong, statistically significant relationship between perceived insider status and organizational commitment. Although spirituality did not directly predict organizational commitment, it demonstrated a small but significant mediating effect between …

We advocate shared leadership as a key mechanism for unlocking innovation in family businesses. Family businesses, however, typically emphasize hierarchical leadership, reflecting the family power structure, which can pose challenges for successful innovation by limiting resources and knowledge sharing between family and non-family members. Shared leadership, enabled by both empowering from formal hierarchical leaders, as well as self-leadership practices across the organization, can help to overcome this challenge by leveraging the familiness, and related social capital, present in family businesses. The unprecedented surge in unemployment insurance claims during the COVID-19 pandemic exposed state labor agency systems in the United States to significant fraud risks, resulting in billions of dollars in improper payments. This study investigated the role of data analytics in detecting and mitigating unemployment insurance fraud, with a focus on state government responses. Using a single-case study approach, I examined how advanced data analytics, including machine learning, predictive modeling, and strategies to identify fraudulent claims, can reduce fraud within unemployment insurance systems. This study explores how specific managerial behaviors support social value creation in UAE-based Takaful organizations. Using the High-Performance Organization (HPO) framework - particularly the Management Quality factor - it analyzes data from 230 questionnaires and 59 interviews. Findings show strengths in trust and relationship-building, but weaknesses in decision-making, leadership effectiveness, and performance management. Compared to national and global HPO benchmarks, the case organizations scored lower, indicating cultural and organizational barriers. The study offers industry-specific recommendations and presents a practical approach for measuring the alignment between managerial behaviors and ESG, CSR, and EDI goals in Islamic financial institutions.

Purpose: To evaluate the impact of a standardized onboarding program on Advanced Practice Provider (APP) retention and productivity within an academic department.

Background: High APP turnover in specialized settings disrupts care and leads to financial losses. Previously, onboarding lacked structure, leading to early attrition and delayed productivity. A 24-week phased, competency-based orientation program was developed to improve retention, job satisfaction, and clinical performance.

Methods: The program, implemented in April 2024, included clinical precepting, didactic modules, and mentorship. Retention and Relative Value Units (RVUs) were measured before and after implementation. Qualitative data was collected through mentorship surveys and APP focus groups. …
