The Destination Marketing Development Of Religious Tourism In Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Navruz-Zoda, Zebiniso Navruz-Zoda
International Journal of Religious Tourism and Pilgrimage
Uzbekistan has great potential to develop pilgrimage tourism based on the spiritual culture of the Islamic religion. Destination marketing development of religious tourism, based on Sufism is an innovative direction for the organisation of pilgrimage tourism. In this paper, the dual nature of this kind of religious tourism is revealed to comprise: first a pilgrimage nature, that consists of the Sufi pilgrimage to Sufi shrines to perform ritual and; secondly a religious-cognitive nature, whereby, a major segment of travellers can be Muslim, non-Sufis and scientists, researchers, teachers, tutors and other categories of tourists who are interested in the learning of …

Management Practices For The Development Of Religious Tourism Sacred Sites: Managing Expectations Through Sacred And Secular Aims In Site Development; Report, Store And Access, Peter Wiltshier, Maureen Griffiths
International Journal of Religious Tourism and Pilgrimage
Through a distillation of practices reflective of the extant literature and socio-economic approaches to inclusive development of sites of religious experiences and worship, we posit that there are seven core conceptual approaches to support evolving site management needs. Therefore, developing sites of special significance necessarily requires the dissemination and sharing of both intellectual and practical contributions to meet those needs in a planned and stakeholder-driven approach. Traditional approaches to development emerged half a century ago with a focus on core competencies and the agreed understanding that open and fair competition would raise quality and assure reasonable profit margins. Creating awareness …

Implications Of Social Media Use On Instruction And Student Learning: An Exploratory Study, Mayur S. Desai, Lucy Ojode
Implications Of Social Media Use On Instruction And Student Learning: An Exploratory Study, Mayur S. Desai, Lucy Ojode
Southwestern Business Administration Teaching Conference
In this paper we explore the use of social media on the content delivery aspects of instruction and potential impacts on student learning. It is our conjecture that impacts of social media use might depend on factors such as the interface of particular medium and learning style, teaching style and instructor skill, and the demographics of students and their instructors. We propose a framework that links instructor to students through social media. That is, social media becomes a channel though which learning occurs. Classifying multimedia technology as tools and social media as interactive Web 2.0 Internet-based applications, we employ …

Educational researchers have found Wenger’s community of practice (CoP) theoretical framework (Wenger, 1998) to be very relevant to student learning in higher education. According to this framework, learning is a community activity that takes place in the convergence of two processes: participation and reification

The models based on assets, dividents, cash flow and returns are identical, however, in the real world, a perfect environment does not exist, thus the results of the models applied throughout the assessment of the companies are different. Therefore, in such an environment, the data used during the capital assessment represent the assessment of the future values and their measurement is important during the predictions.
The aim of the study is to explain the concept of 'market real value' of the companies and the methodological instrumentarium for their assessment, with a special focus on the factors that influence the company's …

Agritourism Potential As A Perspective In Kosovo, Ruzhdi Matoshi
UBT International Conference
Tourism development is a broadly diversified activity from the rest of economic sectors. While in the economy a competition between the sectors is a key to better selection and specialization, tourism in general has some exceptions arising from the state support due to the importance this sector has in promoting the country abroad, through promotion, subsidies and programs, including intrastate programs and from the European Union. The main reason behind such a support lies on the needs of people for holidays, relax, health and food. The Republic of Kosovo has an area of 10.887 km2 and a population of 1.8 …

The goal of this paper is to explore the perception of Kosovo’s citizens of the severity of tax evasion relative to other crimes and abuses. Perception of tax evasion may somewhat clarify the degree of rebelliousness with the tax laws. Using data from a self- administered survey and a personnel structured interview, the results of mean and comparative analysis will be examined to show where the tax evasion is ranked in Kosovo in the list of fifty listed crimes. Studies, conducted about the perceptions of tax evasion as a crime, have suggested that the tax non-compliance environment has been created …

Geographic Proximity Of Information To Financial Markets And Impact On Stock Prices: Evidence From The Ebola Outbreak, Riste Ichev Matej Marinč
UBT International Conference
Behavioral finance studies reveal that investors' sentiment affects investment decisions and may therefore affect stock pricing. This paper examines whether the geographic proximity of information disseminated by the 2014 Ebola Outbreak combined with intense media coverage affected asset prices in the United States. The results show that the effect is generally negative on the stock prices, also local media coverage strongly affects local trading, and the effect is more pronounced in small and more volatile stocks and in companies belonging to less stable industries. Furthermore, we find that both retail and institutional investors are more sensitive to the intensity of …

Foreign Direct Investment (Fdi) Types And Theories: The Significance Of Human Capital, Nazmi Zeqiri, Hykmete Bajrami
UBT International Conference
One of the economic problems of undeveloped countries, and Kosovo, is that they do not have enough national savings to finance their investments. They are in constant need of foreign capital in forms of both direct and indirect investments, but not every country is able to attract the right mode of FDI, nor does every investor risks his investments without studying the conditions in the host country. The practice of FDI attraction generally incorporates numerous fiscal and monetary incentives. However, one should note that FDI attraction should be accompanied by development and an increase in the level of human capital, …

Jepson School of Leadership Studies articles, book chapters and other publications
We are well aware that the economy, environment and organizations in today’s global context are highly interdependent and interconnected. This interdependence contributes to the blurring of lines among business, nonprofit and government entities to the extent that new forms of organization are emerging to tackle socioeconomic and sociopolitical issues that only the political system and social movements confronted in the past.
James MacGregor Burns proclaimed in his groundbreaking book, Leadership, that the effectiveness of leaders “will be tested by the achievement of purpose in the form of real and intended [emphasis added] social change.”1 Burns explained that social …

Establishing The Identity Of The Class And Instructor, Dale Rude
Southwestern Business Administration Teaching Conference
Major tasks faced by instructors include establishing class identity and their identity for students. I will share tips for doing so based upon almost 40 years of teaching and ask participants to share their tips. To establish the course identity, I use advance assignments for the first day to get them thinking about the course before the semester starts and to set a tone. To set work expectations, a book and an associated quiz are assigned for the second week of class. I have an overarching theme for each course I teach which organizes the material and motivates the student …
