This dissertation comprises three experimental studies that explore how management's financial disclosure behavior and security strategies influence the costs associated with cybersecurity breaches. The first study examines the cost of litigation in connection with cybersecurity incidents. The purpose of this study is to determine how the characteristics and content of cybersecurity incidents' disclosure affects jurors' liability assessments. Specifically, this study explores how jurors react to management timeliness in disclosing the incident and the plausibility of the explanations provided to justify the disclosure strategy. Gender, Social Networks, And Microenterprise: Differences In Network Effects On Business Performance, Seon Mi Kim

This article aims to find if female micro-entrepreneurs have different social networks that affect their business performance from males. This article uses the longitudinal Panel Study of Entrepreneurial Dynamic (PSED) II data set (2005-2011) in the U.S. The key finding is that even in cases where female micro-entrepreneurs gained the same number of weak ties and resources from their networks as their male counterparts, their weak ties and gained resources did not help them to improve their business performance unlike their male counterparts. Implications for Microenterprise Development Programs and future studies are informed.

The following Thesis is comprised of twelve case studies that were completed over one year in the course ACCY 420. This course, led by Dr. Victoria Dickinson, challenged students to dive deeper into accounting concepts and principles through the analysis of financial statements presented from real companies. The companies analyzed do business in a variety of industries and disciplines, so students were able to see the accounting process through a multitude of lenses.
