Institutional Ownership And Value Relevance Of Corporate Social Responsibility Disclosure: Empirical Evidence From China, Ramiz Ur Rehman, Zahid Riaz, Charles Cullinan, Junrui Zhang, Fanghua Wang

We examine the relationship between corporate social responsibility (CSR) disclosure and firm value in China. Using a sample of listed companies on the Shanghai Stock Exchange from 2008 to 2012, we find that market value of a firm is higher when a company makes a lower level of CSR disclosure. Other things being equal, this relationship becomes positive when the CSR disclosure is moderated with the institutional ownership. With regard to the CSR disclosure, we found consistent results with respect to the little evidence that the amount of CSR disclosure is significantly associated with market value among those companies who …

This paper investigates cultural differences between Chinese and American project managers in the IT industry through a pilot study of interviewing six professional project managers with qualitative and quantitative questions. The interview questions were developed to compare core Chinese values and cultural styles with American cultural styles. Initial results found that Chinese and American project managers in the IT industry have similar ideas regarding resistance to corruption but have differences toward the idea of trustworthiness, harmony, avoiding confrontation, and non- competition.

Opioid analgesics continue to be the mainstay of pharmacologic treatment of moderate to severe pain. An adjunct is a drug that in its pharmacological characteristic is not identified primarily as an analgesic, but that has been found in clinical practice to have either an independent analgesic effect or additive analgesic properties when used with opioids. By using an adjunct to maximize the level of analgesia, the required opioid dosage may be reduced, together with concomitant adverse effects. Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF) is an autosomal recessive inherited disease, which is accompanied by recurrent attacks of fever and serositis. It can be distinguished into two types. Type 1, is associated with recurrent short episodes of inflammation and polyserositis; type 2, is characterized by the accumulation of serum amyloid A mainly in the kidney leading to amyloidosis. The etiology of this disease is due to mutations in the MEFV gene, which encodes the protein “pyrin”. The top-seeded Buccaneers defeated the seventh-seeded Wofford  Terriers 72-58 in Monday’s Southern Conference Championship at the Harrah’s Cherokee Center Asheville. The Bucs became the fourth team in the 100-year history of the SoCon to reach the 30-win mark after improving to 30-4 on the season. The Blue and Gold join Wofford (30-5, 2018-19), North Carolina (30-5, 1945-46) and North Carolina State (30-7, 1950-51) as the only teams to accomplish the feat. A Review Of The Literature On Corruption In Healthcare Organizations, Vincenzo Sforza, Riccardo Cimini, Alessandro Mechelli, Taryn Vian

Nursing and Health Professions Faculty Research and Publications

This paper provides a systematic and bibliometric review of 80 research articles on corruption in healthcare published in peer-reviewed journals between 2006 and 2017. Findings suggest that the number of studies has increased over time with a focus on low- and middle-income countries; academic researchers have published papers in a large variety of journals and have investigated different types of corruption with various methodologies. The interest is especially focused on low- and middle-income countries where corrupt behaviors are more common. The paper suggests future research directions to a dynamic research community to facilitate anticorruption actions by public authorities.
