“Branding on a Budget: Marketing in the Nonprofit Sector” This service learning project combines academic research with experiential service learning. The purpose of this project was to create a strong brand for BeInstrumental, a nonprofit music education organization from Toledo, Ohio through the creation of a graphic branding plan. Principles of visual communication technology, graphic design, marketing strategies, branding, and graphic design are all implemented in this project.

JOHNSON CITY – (May 12, 2020) Future teachers who are part of the Class of 2020 at East Tennessee State University moved to the head of the class with their scores on the edTPA assessment. edTPA is a national performance-based assessment for students seeking initial licensure.  Some states, including Tennessee, require its teachers to have a passing score on edTPA for licensure.

Of the 165 undergraduate and graduate students from across ETSU’s educator preparation programs who recently took the edTPA exam, 95 percent earned a passing score.

Some educator preparation programs had a 100 percent pass rate. This include the …

JOHNSON CITY (May 12, 2020) – Teams of East Tennessee State University business students performed strongly in the Tennessee Valley Authority Investment Challenge Program (ICP) and the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute Research Challenge.

The ICP is a partnership between the TVA and 25 universities in the federally owned utility’s seven-state service area. Student teams gain hands-on financial asset management experience by actively managing stock portfolios for the TVA under the guidance of faculty members and within investment …

JOHNSON CITY (May 12, 2020) – East Tennessee State University College of Nursing’s online Doctor of Nursing Practice Program (DNP) is among the top 20 in the nation, according to a new ranking by Learn.org.

ETSU ranked 18^th, in the “Best Online DNP Programs” listing released this month.

ETSU’s DNP program is a doctoral degree focused on rural clinical practice in primary care settings. The program prepares advanced practice nurses and executive nurse leaders to assess and evaluate evidence from research and translate or use the findings to affect practice change and enhance and promote quality of care.

Employee engagement continues to gain considerable attention owing to its positive correlation with numerous desired work-related outcomes (Saks, 2019; Shuck et al., 2017). Engagement in one’s job has become of particular interest in industry sectors experiencing shortages, such as the skilled trades (Bilginsoy, 2003). The skilled trades have reportedly been the most difficult segment of the employee market to staff globally year over year (Schwartz, 2015; Wright, 2013).

This thesis compiles twelve case studies provided by Dr. Victoria Dickinson. Each of these cases, which were performed over the course of the 2018-2019 academic year, presented accounting problems that used both fictional and real-world situations to provide an experiential approach to learning. These cases presented numerous types of business problems and challenged me to better understand the various dimensions of accountancy, ranging from data analytics to banking and finance. Every year the NFL Super Bowl is held in a different state. Due to the differing state income tax rates, there appears to be an incentive for the NFL Super Bowl to be held in some states over others. Over the past 21 years, the Super Bowl has occurred more often in low tax states, but after analyzing the relationships between state income tax rates, average state temperatures, and the states in which the Super Bowl has been held, it appears that average state temperature is a more important factor in determining the location of the Super Bowl, not state …
