Consumers And Their Celebrity Brands: How Personal Narratives Set The Stage For Attachment, Ben Eng, Cheryl B. Jarvis

This research demonstrates how consumer attachment to celebrity brands is driven by perceived narratives about the celebrity’s persona, which triggers communal (i.e., altruistic) relationship norms. The research investigates the differential role of narratives about celebrities’ personal vs. professional lives in creating attachment, and identifies and tests moderating effects of narrative characteristics including perceived source of fame, valence and authenticity.

Design/methodology/approach – Three online experiments tested the proposed direct, mediating, and moderating relationships. Data was analyzed using mediation analysis and multiple ANOVAs.

The global competition for international students has fuelled the need for education providers to become more consumer oriented in their planning. Our purpose with this study was to understand international student perceptions and discuss corresponding approaches. In this qualitative study we interviewed twenty international students enrolled in two Indian universities to examine: one, their feelings about being an international student in India and two, what attracted them to India as a higher education destination. This perspective piece aims to spur conversations between quality of life, community well-being, and community development scholars and practitioners. The article showcases overlaps in concepts found across journals devoted to those three fields of inquiry. The major themes from those overlaps are discussed, so future directions for interdisciplinary research can be identified. The article finishes with specific attention to exploring how collaborations between the fields of quality of life (QoL), community well-being (CWB), and community development (CD) can better inform community development practice, so that community well-being and quality life can be positively shifted through evidence-based practice.

We study retailers’ preferences for transshipment timing in the presence of product substitution in overlapping markets where there is either pre-substitution transshipment (TS) or post-substitution transshipment (ST). By building a two-retailer game model, we find that when the retailer with excess inventory can dictate the transshipment price, there always exists a unique pair of equilibrium order quantities. We also find that the equilibrium order quantity in the post-substitution transshipment will always be larger than that in the pre-substitution transshipment in the symmetric case. But surprisingly, the expected profit of the post-substitution transshipment always dominates that of the pre-substitution transshipment, though …

The present research sought to explore the differences between developed and underdeveloped countries on the Love of Life Scale (LLS). Nine samples (N =3,799) took part in the study. They were university students from Egypt, Lebanon, Kuwait, Qatar, Algeria, Malaysia, India, Iran, and USA. Sex-related differences in LLS were significant only in Kuwait (in favor of males) and India (in favor of females). The samples of Malaysia and U.S.A. obtained the highest mean LLS score, followed by participants from Qatar, India, and Kuwait, (males), and India, Iran, Qatar, and Algeria (females), respectively. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the risk of developing musculoskeletal disorders in preclinical and clinical dental students in Beirut Arab University (BAU) clinics.190 students were recruited from the Faculty of Dentistry at BAU: 95 preclinical and 95clinical dentistry students, and asked to fill the Ergonomic Awareness Questionnaire (EAQ). Then the students were blindly assessed by a physical therapist using Rapid Entire Body Assessment Scale (REBA) scale.Results indicated that 90% of the preclinical and clinical students are at medium to high risk of developing musculoskeletal problems.
