JOHNSON CITY (Aug. 12, 2021) – A course to train pharmacy technicians is offered by East Tennessee State University’s Office of Professional Development from Aug. 31-Nov. 16.

This class, limited to 35 students, will train assistants to assist pharmacists in handling medications and serving patients. Those who pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) examination become nationally certified.

The course instructor is Cheryl Ollry, a pharmacy technician with the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She has over 15 years of experience in retail and hospital pharmacy.

In recent years, debates over the social purpose of corporations have taken center stage amidst rising concern about externalities (such as those associated with climate change and harmful speech) generated by firms. A key motivation is the claim that government regulation and liability regimes appear not to be functioning sufficiently well to force firms to internalize these externalities. There is thus rising interest in exploring alternative mechanisms. In particular, a rapidly growing body of scholarship argues that index funds increasingly approximate diversified “universal owners” with incentives to maximize portfolio value (and thus to internalize cross-firm externalities). This past legislative session Senate Bill 601, sponsored by Senator Jonathan Dismang, was enacted into law, becoming Ark. Act 1041 on April 30, 2021. This act repeals the old LLC Act and adopts the Uniform Limited Liability Company Act (“ULLCA”), with minimal changes from the uniform language. This short piece points out some basic information about the Arkansas ULLCA and some of the major changes in Arkansas law applicable to LLCs. While lawyers will obviously need to consult the new statute when actual issues arise, this article should at least provide a “heads up” notice to practitioners with LLCs or …

The concept of employee engagement has garnered considerable attention in acute care hospitals because of the many positive benefits that research has found when clinicians are individually engaged. However, limited, if any, research has examined the effects of engaging all hospital employees (including housekeeping, cafeteria, and admissions staff) in a collective manner and how this may impact patient experience, an important measure of hospital performance. This research examined the association of users perceived ease of use, usefulness, and risks with the intention of cloud-based accounting information systems (AIS) adoption. The research involved 41 small-medium enterprises (SMEs) in Bandung as the samples of the study.  The data was collected using a questionnaires instrument with a purposive sampling technique. The results showed that perceived ease of use (PEOU) and usefulness (PU) was positively associated with adopting a cloud-based accounting information system. Meanwhile, the perceived risk (PR) had no significant influence on the cloud-based accounting information system’s perceived usefulness (PU). However, the perceived risk significantly influenced to intention …

The season opens with “Men on Boats,” a comedy by Jaclyn Backhaus.  Featuring an all-female cast, “Men on Boats” tells the “true(ish)” story of 10 explorers – a one-armed captain and crew of insane yet loyal volunteers – who set out to chart the course of the Colorado River during an 1869 expedition, writes Dramatists Play Service.  The show contains strong language.

These online markets are massive in scale; thus, it is an important phenomenon in consumer research. Exploring Donation And Purchase Intentions To Corporate Owned Vs. Corporate Sponsored Foundations, Amanda Swift, Ismail Karabas, Skyler King

Faculty & Staff Research and Creative Activity

This study examines the donation intentions and purchase likelihood toward corporate-owned and corporate-sponsored foundations. A cross-sectional sample of Amazon’s MTurk respondents is obtained. Results of the experiment indicate that relative to foundations sponsored by a corporation, corporate foundations are perceived to be more trustworthy and have a greater perceived impact on a cause, which leads to higher purchase intentions. Additionally, donation intentions to foundations are higher among the corporate foundations because of perceived impact. Implications of these results are discussed from both practical and theoretical perspectives.

A 2018 needs assessment indicated that more than 50% of the child welfare workforce in Nebraska was experiencing elevated secondary traumatic stress (STS). STS refers to the experience of people – generally professionals– who are exposed to others’ traumatic events as part of their work. As a result of this exposure, these professionals can develop their own traumatic symptoms and reactions such as sleeplessness and anxiety. Job losses from the COVID-19 pandemic have exacerbated housing insecurity among low-income renters over the past year. Federal, state, and local policymakers have created temporary measures to help reduce displacement among people who have lost their jobs, but there is considerable uncertainty about what will happen when these temporary measures end. To gain insight into how homelessness changes over macroeconomic cycles, we examine changes in homelessness rates from 2007 to 2020. Our analysis focuses on four metro areas that were particularly hard-hit by the foreclosure crisis: Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Riverside. In the first chapter, we investigate the loss aversion behavior in service procurement auction. We study and compare two mechanisms, i.e., the percentage reimbursement policy and flat reimbursement policy to improve buyer's expected utility. In the second chapter, we analyze the trust behavior in a supply chain within a "cheap-talk" communication environment. We find that under the right conditions, an untrustworthy retailer can manipulate a trusting supplier, which reduces the double marginalization problem, and benefits the supply chain. In the last chapter, we study the trust and trustworthiness behaviors of AI agents in the trust Game. This paper finds that …
