The Simulation Laboratory at ETSU consists of six simulation rooms at ETSU’s Bishop Hall (Interprofessional Education and Research Center) that mimic the real-life patient care setting. In these labs, users practice their skills on human patient (mannequin) simulators in a controlled environment so that they have the necessary skills and confidence needed to transfer to a real-world hospital setting.

Researchers have shown app evolution to continuously lead to app success from the developer perspective. However, few studies have explored app success from the user perspective, which limits our knowledge about the role that app evolution has in app success. Building on app evolution literature and the technology acceptance model (TAM), we investigate the influence that effectiveness of app evolution has on perceived app usefulness, perceived ease of use, and app continuance intention (a proxy for app success from the user perspective). The Effect Of Destructive Leadership On Self-Efficacy And Counterproductive Work Behaviors: A Research On Service Sector Employees In Mersin, Turkey, Murat Aydinay, Aysehan Cakici, A. Celil Cakici

The aim of this study was to find out the effect of destructive leadership on employees’ self-efficacy and counterproductive work behaviors. The data was collected from a convenience sample of 486 service sector employees in Mersin, Turkey. Descriptive statistics, explanatory factor analysis, and regression analysis were conducted to analyze the data. The results showed that lack of competence in leadership, excessive authoritarianism, and favoritism dimensions increased the organization-oriented counterproductive work behaviors while resistance to technology and change dimension decreased these behaviors. In contrast, insensitivity to subordinates had no effect on counterproductive work behaviors. Furthermore, destructive leadership had no effect on …

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — East Tennessee State University’s Interprofessional Education and Research (IPER) program recently earned two statewide awards recognizing its work in championing and cultivating interprofessional education and practice. 

The Tennessee Interprofessional Practice and Education Consortium (TIPEC) presented the People’s Choice Award and the Poster Award to ETSU for a presentation showcasing ETSU’s relationship with interprofessional teams during the Remote Area Medical (RAM) clinic that occurs each November in Gray.

Interprofessional education is rooted in students learning and practicing team-based, collaborative care in order to improve health outcomes for patients.

We survey stakeholders in the financial reporting process to examine trust in fair value accounting. Although respondents demonstrate high confidence in financial statements, they believe that fair value accounting decreases trust in financial reporting and that preparing fair value numbers is costly but beneficial. They also strongly believe in the Conceptual Framework underlying standard setting. Using multivariate regression analyses, we find that perceiving fair value accounting as beneficial is positively associated with trust in it, consistent with the theory of reasoned action that people engage in behavior (e.g., trust) based on expected positive outcomes of that behavior. In 2021, the Greater New Orleans Foundation partnered with the University of New Orleans to study the regional nonprofit sector in Southeast Louisiana, exploring the sector’s adaptability to the COVID-19 pandemic and racial equity in its nonprofits’ leadership. This study followed a spring 2020 survey focused on the pandemic’s immediate impact. A total of 756 public charities received an online survey in January and February 2021; 335 responded, for a 44% response rate. Results suggest nonprofits adapted to the pandemic’s financial toll and increased demand for essential services by shifting services online, accessing federally backed emergency loans, and reducing staff …

Purpose – The purpose of the research is to explore library patrons' and leaders' perspectives regarding the key challenges facing during COVID-19 and issues to be addressed in managing libraries in the UAE.

Design/methodology/approach– The researchers collected 300 patrons' and 50 library leaders' opinions by administering two types of questionnaires that tested its reliability and validity by implementing Cronbach Alpha and Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) tests. The collected data were analyzed using the R language in R Studio Software. The selected hypotheses were tested by employing the Kruskal-Wallis (K-W) hypotheses technique.

Seasonal business operations hire workers depending on environmental conditions and market prices. For example, during the growing and harvest seasons, agricultural businesses employ multiple workers to perform activities such as tilling soil, sowing seed, spreading fertiliser, spraying pesticides, removing weeds, and threshing crops. This study proposes two mixed-integer programming (MIP) models with an effective heuristic to solve the problem of simultaneously assigning multiple multi-skilled workers to the numerous tasks that require different skill sets during single-and multiple-period operations. Using a unique setting in which the standard setter (the Governmental Accounting Standards Board) provides guidance on the content of Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) disclosures, we investigate the determinants of content changes in municipal government MD&A. We do so in terms of economic changes, turnover, and regulatory characteristics. We use a sample of 1142 municipal MD&A disclosures from fiscal year 2011 to 2015 to calculate a difference score based on the degree to which municipal MD&As change from the previous year. One of the most important issues in contemporary societies is the impact of intelligent technologies on human work. For an empirical perspective on the issue, we recently completed 30 case studies of people collaborating with AI-enabled smart machines. Twenty-four were from North America, mostly in the US. Six were from Southeast Asia, mostly in Singapore. We compare some of our observations to one of the broadest academic examinations of the issue. In particular, we focus on our case study observations with regard to key findings from the MIT Task Force on the Work of the Future report.
