The essays reflect on the relationship between status hierarchies and institutional changes. In the course of accumulating social resources, high status actors lead and become the change in the institution; the relationship between the leaders and their communities is especially fascinating. A theory is proposed to explain the general patterns of status dynamics and an empirical test is conducted to partially test the theorized social relationships. This study highlights the strength of social governance in ensuring collective well-being in the course of never-ending changes in the institution.

Restricted stock awards carry upside and downside risks for CEOs. We follow a socio-cognitive perspective by suggesting that awards of restricted stock are viewed as potential gains or potential losses depending on each CEO's dominant regulatory focus. Regulatory focus, therefore, helps determine how a CEO responds to restricted stock awards. We also propose that the moderating effect of regulatory focus strengthens as firm complexity increases and as CEO tenure lengthens, because complexity and tenure both increase CEOs' reliance on heuristic information processing. Specifically, complexity restricts a CEO's cognitive capacity for thoughtful deliberation during decision making, and tenure affects …

This study investigated perceptions of faith-based organizations (FBOs) compared to secular non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Mgwashi, Bumbuli District, Tanzania. Perceptions were sorted into two categories: efficacy of services and trustworthiness. This study also examined gender and religion to determine potential influences on perceptions of trustworthiness and efficacy.

This study conducted 72 interviews of Mgwashi residents (18 Muslim men, 18 Muslim women, 18 Christian men, and 18 Christian women). Participants were asked for their opinions on the trustworthiness and efficacy of secular NGOs and FBOs with which they had experience. This paper however delves into the specific utilization of foreign aid within the education sector in Rwanda and the effects it bears not just on the recipient state in general, but also on its financial practices with regard to aid. By exploring trends in financial expenditure by aid agencies and government, it appears that foreign aid does not necessarily influence government budget allocations and this absence of ‘crowding-out’ gives Rwanda an upper hand in managing foreign aid. The purpose of this study is to find out the availability of the local dishes of the city of Batman in the menus of the accommodation establishments. Therefore, at first, the local dishes of this city were compiled via document analysis technique. As a result of this compilation, for the study, semi-structured interviews were conducted with the managers or head chefs of 13 accommodation establishments located in Batman.
