Mid-level managers of multinational corporations often struggle to find a leadership style that helps build a high-performance organizational culture. This paper discusses the research question of what strategies some mid-level managers in a multinational corporation in Asia employ to create a high-performance organizational culture. The authors chose six mid-level managers of a multinational Fortune 500 IT corporation in Singapore to participate in this case study research blended with techniques of miniethnography. The authors looked for qualities and approaches required for leaders to build and lead their teams to high-performance standards in times of uncertainty. The Qualitative Report

Despite unremitting efforts to develop quality criteria of qualitative research, traditional criteria for the trustworthiness of qualitative results are still predominant in interpretive and naturalistic inquiries including Ph.D. studies. This work does not aim to replace the existing quality criteria but rather to update and simplify those criteria to include credibility, confirmability, and representativeness. The purpose of the study is to offer a review of existing criteria and strategies for qualitative research and to suggest simple criteria and strategies that will win the confidence of the academic community and augment the trustworthiness of qualitative research.

Despite this, approximately 40% of all our containerized imports are processed through only two ports – the Port of Long Beach and the Port of Los Angeles. In 2021, these two locations alone moved over 10 million import containers. This study was done in effort to understand the thoughts and feelings of autistic adults relative to life transitions and resources available. We surveyed key stakeholders; specifically autistic students, but also family/caregivers of adults. Six surveys were created, each based upon different themes: camouflaging, life transitions, managing mental health, overstimulation, social communication, and family and caregiver perceptions. Our surveys were marketed on Western Michigan University’s campus and through social media and are still ongoing. Trends in the data, however, suggest that overall autistics have concerns about how their disabilities impact life in or shortly after college. Many respondents expressed they …

Higher education culture is steeped in institutional identity and ties to history. But what happens when that history is challenged, and an institution must change its name? While a merger was not initially intended for Kearney State College, merging into the University of Nebraska system was the only way to reflect the change and growth that emulated the type of institution it had become. By interviewing sixteen participants that lived the experience of the merge, a concise and collective history of the events that led to the creation of the University of Nebraska at Kearney was obtained and studied. Factors That Led To Crossing The Picket-Line: An Autoethnography Of A Faculty Striker, Giovanna Follo

Historically, academic strikes are not frequent and are short. Much of the research examines why academic strikes occur; however, few explore the individual multidimensional striker. The research question in this autoethnographic essay explored, “What factors led me, a pro-union advocate, to cross the picket line?” Crossing the picket meant going back to work before the strike was declared over. The self-reflexive narrative examines several themes, including the mental health burden of anxiety and stress, the place of coercive power used when the administration pursues extreme threats, the role that unions play in setting up expectations at the outset of a …

In a conversation with Joe Berry and Helena Worthen, authors of the recent book, Power despite precarity, Gary Rhoades explores the basic themes of this historical case study of the California Faculty Association in relation to contingent faculty and the larger contingent faculty labor movement. The conversation, like the book, centers on strategies for the contingent faculty labor movement, as the authors' intent is that it be a "channel of movement knowledge."

AAUP’s turn to collective bargaining grew out of a more expansive view of unionization than is typical for American labor unions. The mission of the AAUP incorporates addressing economic matters, as does the purpose of unions generally. But the AAUP adopted collective bargaining as a means of protecting and expanding the professional interests of the profession. This paper surveys the various approaches that AAUP chapters have used to accomplish the safeguarding and expansion of academic freedom.

In 2014, the author offered several critical observations and suggestions as possible guides for the National Center’s future role in public higher education. Eight years later, several merit repeating (and expanding), more forcefully than before, at a time when our public institutions are increasingly fragile and clearly confused about what their charter and role ought to be three years into a world-wide pandemic where everything is not quite as it was before.

We describe how community weavers and artisans who operated various Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Karnataka, India, during the pandemic, and how they were able to sustain and grow their business despite the challenges brought on by the pandemic. We used data from two rounds of surveys conducted by Shreni Samudaya[1], along with Impactree Data Technologies Private Limited. The textile industry recorded negative growth during the pandemic, with the smaller MSMEs experiencing the biggest losses. Despite numerous enterprises shutting down and facing heavy losses, weavers and artisans were able to sustain and upscale their business, reach …
