In this report, Michael Swack, Jolan Rivera, and Sanjeev Sharma discuss the results of the On The Road Lending (OTRL) program evaluation.

OTRL and its sister CDFI, On the Road Sustainability Funds (OTRSF), share a common mission to promote prosperity within America’s working families through transportation and financial innovation. While OTRL and OTRDF measure and report on many environmental, social, and financial outcomes, the most important are economic mobility measures and improvements in quality of life, namely, greater agency, and control of options through more wealth and time (OTRL, 2021).

(April 19, 2023) – Ballad Health and East Tennessee State University Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy are hosting the inaugural conference for the Center for Pharmacy Education, Advocacy and Outreach on May 8 at Ballad’s Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, Tennessee. The event is aimed at pharmacists and pharmacy technicians and will focus primarily on the topics of substance use disorder (SUD) and the opioid epidemic. Continuing education credit is being offered for each presentation during the program.

What does your day look like on rotation?

Each day begins with a thorough assessment of each patient on the ID service where we assess for optimization or de-escalation of antimicrobial therapy based on patient specific parameters. Once the pharmacy team has adequately assessed each patient, we collaborate with the infectious disease providers during patient care rounds where treatment plans and drug therapies are implemented. In the context of family farms, includes some general points to consider before you sign a loan guarantee for a family member who is heavily in debt.

Conclusion: Having to consider whether to co-sign a child's loan is a very difficult situation-no one wants to be part of losing part of the family farm or ranch to loan foreclosure. But if the loan guarantee isn't part of a financial turnaround plan that has at least a fighting chance of success, don't sign the guarantee unless you absolutely don't need the money for your own retirement.

Caked Up! is a small, local bakery in Oklahoma owned and operated by cake designer Lauran Fuller. Caked Up! serves cake, cupcakes, house-made ice cream, coffee, and an assortment of baked goods, including cake pops. In addition, they offer custom cake orders for special occasions. In March of 2014, Lauran opened the Caked Up! retail storefront. The case explains Lauran’s bakery from passion to performance, and gives an overview of the internal and external factors that have influenced its growth. The potential impact of social media use on the development of entrepreneurial intention has received little attention. In addressing this gap, research reported herein extends entrepreneurial intention literature by explicitly incorporating social media use. Inquiry investigates development of intention via specific social media factors that influence intention through its antecedents, namely, perceived entrepreneurial desirability and perceived entrepreneurial feasibility. The article summarizes the salient aspects of a quantitative study of social media usage and startup entrepreneurial intention in Greece. This article summarizes a research study done from April 2020 until April 2021 to examine the challenges, response, and tactics, of entrepreneurs in rural southern Virginia. In particular, the research goes into depth of how the COVID-19 pandemic effected operations, how entrepreneurs responded, and what measures they took to stay viable. Finally, the article proposes a framework for rapid response in the case of future pandemics, natural disasters, or economic events that cause similar disruptions.

Medical marijuana patients must contend not just with their maladies, but with the social stigma surrounding marijuana use as well. This study hypothesizes that advertising can be used to positively influence individual’s acceptance of medical marijuana. It seeks to answer the questions: Can persuasive advertising be used to reduce stigma surrounding medical marijuana? Which advertising method is most effective in this persuasive process? This study explores the effects that Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations introduced by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) in the 2011-12 season have on the success of football teams within the league. The rationale of FFP was to make the league more competitive by restricting a team’s ability to spend on player salaries. Through the construction of a comprehensive longitudinal dataset, I analyzed team performance from the 2004-05 season through to the 2020-21 season, measuring club success in points-per-game, wins, losses, and draws and financial success using team profit margin and salary expenditures. This chapter discusses what boosts digital transformation (DX) in the Japanese banking sector, focusing on the non-technical side of fintech in the context of the Japanese main bank system (MBS). This chapter first identifies Japan’s country-specific business purposes by looking at the economy, institution, and individual levels of the society. Using country-specific elements as case themes, qualitative case studies reveal that compatible fintech with local cultural values of preference leads to successful technological development. Two distinct public health crises shook the United States from 1954 to 2023: nicotine addiction from tobacco products, and opioid addiction starting with Purdue Pharmaceutical’s OxyContin. These crises resulted in millions of deaths and immense costs to the country as a whole. The nicotine crisis ended in a national settlement against four major tobacco manufacturers, which yielded hundreds of millions of dollars for those harmed by these products. The owners of Purdue, however, opted for bankruptcy instead of settlement, keeping the majority of the money made from OxyContin for Purdue’s owners, the Sackler family.

This paper represents Part 1 of a study that explored the effects of an underwater treadmill (UT) walking program on pain and function in adults with knee osteoarthritis (KOA). The Western Ontario & McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC), numerical rating scale (NRS), timed up-and-go (TUG), and 10-m walk were assessed in 6 adults (62.7 ±14.2 years) who participated in an 8-week (3x/wk) UT walking intervention based on the Arthritis Foundation’s Walk With Ease (WWE) program. This paper presents Part 2 of a study that investigated the effects of an 8-week (3x/week) underwater treadmill (UT) walking intervention on knee osteoarthritis (KOA) outcomes in 6 adults with KOA (62.7 ± 14.2 years). The Knee Outcome Survey (KOS) for activities of daily living and muscle activity during a 10-m walk and a 20 cm step down were measured before and after the intervention. All living organisms acclimate to their environments, with ectothermic species particularly susceptible to environmental change, specifically temperature. Ectothermic insects like crickets directly alter their physiological processes depending on the environment in which they live. Temperature is vital in regulating processes such as metabolism, respiration, and reproduction, among other things. What remains unclear is how a change in the environment, specifically extreme temperature change and dietary alterations, affects physiological processes. In this study, we performed experiments on ectothermic banded crickets to examine the effects of temperature change and the interaction of temperature and diet on oxygen consumption.
